If that's not possible, you can always post me a good old-fashioned tape! I will then copy to that to CD for you. :)

Unfortunately this might be my only way.

I'd love to have the bass line and then put down 4 to 5 different variations, but we'll do it either way. You say a tempo on the lines of 'Ask Me Why'? Cool! I'll break out the brushes on one take and try a few different snares also. This should be fun.

Yeah that would be absolutely great  - some breaks and fills, plus some variations using drums and hi-hat and drums and ride cymbal etc etc all at the smae tempo. If you're up for that I'll send you my address to send the tape to :)

I'm in for some guitar if I can figure out this program on my computer, maybe some Beatles-esque riffs on my Epiphone Dot, much like the Casino, I can get the tone for the beginning of Octopus's Garden dead on.

Hell yeah i'm up for it. I'll have to run to my buddys pawn shop for a tape recorder or borrow some of his equipment (i'm pathetic), but i'm going to start on some ideas tomorrow. (I hope you dont want something too difficult though). Are we just looking for some Beatle type grooves that run about 4 to 5 minutes or are we going with an original sound and style?

(I'll pm you directly Al)

I reckon simplicity might be the key for this first attempt - just a basic 4/4 rhythm track with variations (e.g. some based on the ride, some with closed hi-hat, maybe a snare shuffle or two etc etc) and a few fills thrown in for good measure.

Yep, just PM me when you're ready and I'll send you the details :)

About the lyrics: I always liked the idea Barclay James Harvest used in his song 'Titles', using a lot of titles of Beatles songs in this lyric:

Titles
A musical and lyrical homage to The Beatles, using many of their song titles along with musical quotations to tell its story. I won't list the songs here, as they are probably very familiar to you anyway. The original concept and arrangement were devised by John and Woolly.

Lyrics:
The long and winding road that leads to your door
Here comes the sun it's alright people shout for more
But were you trying to deceive telling me
All you need is love to succeed
Across the universe one after nine 'o' nine
I got a feeling for you blue and I feel fine
I tried so hard to make believe that I'd see
All you need is love to succeed

CHORUS:

Lady Madonna let it be
Something in the way you moved me yesterday
All you need is love so they say

I'm busier than hell. I spent the last four days digging up the backyard due to my septic system being backed up and its not really fixed correctly yet. I havent even begun to lay anything down (I still have no recorder of any kind). I dont want to hold you guys up AL. If you want to lay the drums down by computer or have someone else do it, i'll surely understand. Sorry man.

Sounds like you're having a lot of fun there TK - I don't envy you that task at all!

What I could do is make a very basic drum machine track and send that to Apple Beatle and then, when all the tracks are finished, you could add your drums by playing along to the drum machine track and adding your fills etc. I will then remove the drum machine track and replace it with you!

Perfect!!! This will also give me some time to track down some of that 1982 technology (tape recorder) that seems so rare these days.
