Pretty cool to see this...although I don't know how John Wayne forgot to mention Ringo. What an acceptance speech by Paul! :P
-
I guess Ringo wasn't listed as "composer" for "Let it Be"? Man, Paul and Linda look like hobbits compared to the Duke.
-
Geez no wonder the fans hated Linda and Yoko at the time, they dragged those poor girls everywhere.
I wonder if even back then it irked Paul that Johns name was said first(was it for the song or the album Let It Be)
-
Aw, awards shows back in the day were so "simple" compared to today's.

Why didn`t Linda object to getting the award along with Paul? She had nothing to do with this award. It was not an interview or something, it was an awarding ceremony.

Probably the same reason the others werent there,,,,,,nobody gave a sh*t.

Poor Ringo...
Thank you goodnight!
-
great post, never seen that before. :)
-
I wish I was born at that time
-
I think Paul was frightened to say anything in case it caused another lawsuit. There's a lack of neediness in the way he accepts the award you wouldn't get off him nowadays.
-
That was so cool by Paul. It almost beggars belief as to the lack of detail shown by the Academy. The duke looks like he has no idea who these people are that he's giving an award to!
-
If Linda didn't go with him how could he carry the three statues? Btw why is George listed and not Ringo? This is totally weird.
-
That was my thought as well-- that Paul invited Linda up to help carry the statues. I'm sure he wouldn't want to scratch one, not in those days!
As for Ringo missing- very odd. Er, was the Academy aware that there were 4 Beatles?
But JimmyMcCullochFan, I see I neglected to thank you above. Thanks for this clip! You have been posting some awesome finds lately. It's much appreciated.

The award is for composer(s), not performers. Ringo didn't have a song on the album, so he's not included. Simple as that.
-
I think the Duke was totally cool. He seemed to like saying "Let it Be" and maybe was happy Henry Mancini and the other Hollywood hacks didn't win. Duke himself was a bit of an outsider--he only broke into features after doing serials at poverty row Republic Studios.

Thank you for explaining that. I was a bit puzzled!
-
Linda probably came up with him to support him. Paul needed someone to support him and Linda would have been the best person to be there with him.
-
I remember that live. It was kind of sad, because you always wanted to see them together. When the four were on screen together, be it film or press conference, it was magic.
-
Aw, how sad. Thanks for bringing in that perspective, Walrus.
