I agree. Great record. I havent busted it out in awhile. Might just have to do that.

It really is a great album! I was just listening to this album this morning :)

We had to wait five years for this album... back in the day, and we had to wait another 15 for his posthumous album, not counting The Trembling Wilbury's. ;)
I have loved this album since I heard it the first heard it back in '87. 1987 was a good Beatles year. George had a new album, and number one hit as well. Paul had a new Hits Collection, and a new UK single that I got in the US. The Beatles catalog came out on CD for the first time, and the solo albums started coming out on CD as well. I miss those times. It was fun and expensive being a Beatles fan.

As a 60's fan I think it sounds too 80's for my ears. I prefer any of George's albums from 1970 to 1975, but I admit that Cloud Nine is a key album of him.

Great album, but one of the worst album covers in my opinion.

It is simple, in a way. I love seeing George with his Gretsch from the old days. I think George looks good, and happy.

He loved that Duo Jet...

Yeah, one of my favorite George Harrison albums!!
I remember the year of it's release, I was really surprised of it's quality and I played it for weeks 'round and 'round......
It's a pity that he left us so early, I'm shure he would have had written some more great songs like Cloud Nine for us if :'(.......

You're right, it's a bad cover artwork indeed, typical 80's style.....
For good luck it's good music in a bad sleeve and not the the opposite..... ;D

My favorite songs from Cloud 9 are This Is Love,Breath Away From Heaven and Got My Mind Set On You.

I agree regarding the cover, although i do like the photo of George. The cover just looks like it was designed more for a CD sized cover then a full LP sized album jacket. It just has the vibe to it, in my opinion....but then again a lot of albums released around that time had similar 'simple photo cover' designs.
I still like this album a lot. It was the one that introduced me to George's works..and "That's What It Takes' re-introduced him to me all over again a few years ago. So it paved the way for all his other wonderful stuff from the past ( Beatles included!). I like his 70s stuff a great deal...but will always have a soft spot for this album.

My favourite George Harrison album (excluding compilations). Favourites tracks: That's What It Takes, Fish On The Sand, This Is Love, When We Was Fab, Wreck Of The Hesperus and Got My Mind Set On You. This album features a healthy amount of refreshingly catchy "upbeat" George; in my opinion a nice break away from his dreary, turgid preaching of the mid 70s .

A very good marketing decision, to put George Harrison on the front of a George Harrison album. It worked for Somewhere In England, that album sold over 10 copies.
It screams 80's too. It's a joke: "Spot the Loonie". It's very humourous.

post resurrection here! I listened to the entire Cloud Nine album this morning after watching George on the Dick Cavett show on youtube, great interview about first time doing LSD. Anyway, Cloud Nine was great, really enjoy some of the non-singles too.

It is a good album. I think easily his most commercial. And where, IMO, the number one single is the weakest song on the record.

There’s rumours there will be a announcement of the box set on Thursday, due to be released in August.

Interesting choice for a box set. I thought they were still having to finish the all things must pass reissue. So far all that’s come out is one remix of the title track.
Still. A cloud nine box could be really good. And given how slow the Harrison estate is on giving us unreleased material I’ll take anything.
