1. Nick Drake: Five Leaves Left - Bryter Layter - Pink Moon (i.e. his complete original back catalogue!)
2. The Rolling Stones: The Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones No. 2 - Out Of Our Heads
3. Tyrannosaurus Rex: My People Were Fair - Prophets, Seers & Sages - Unicorn
4. Bert Jansch: Nicola - Birthday Blues - Rosemary Lane
5. Leonard Cohen: Songs of Leonard Cohen - Songs from a Room - Songs of Love & Hate

I'd probably plump for the first 3 Beatles' LPs and definitely choose the 3 Who LPs before Tommy.

Not exactly consecutive

Technically no, but Magical Mystery Tour was an EP and Yellow Submarine a soundtrack. I always think of them as side projects and not count them when discussing the Beatles album by album.

I think that's ok, because Yellow Submarine was not actually an album project by the band, since it was made from two old songs and four leftovers, plus the B-side that was not Beatles music. Actually "the Yellow Submarine sessions" do not exist.

Jefferson Airplane: Surrealistic Pillow - After Bathing At Baxter's - Crown Of Creation

Was considering this one, but decided against it only because I love Surrealistic Pillow so much more than the other two.

With The Kinks I'd definitely go with Something Else/Village Green/Arthur; the post-60s stuff, with the bizarre exception of Percy (3 or 4 premier league Kinks'songs), was one of the first batches of CDs to go in my recent purge.

Also, never really adored The Doors debut (still better than anything in the last four decades though!) or the Roadhouse Blues stuff, so Strange Days - Waiting For The Sun - Soft Parade for me.

Also.....Pretty Things: Get The Picture / Emotions / S.F. Sorrow
And.....Byrds: 5th Dimension / Younger Than Yesterday / Notorious Byrd Brothers

Me too, and I've always had a deep love for their debut, but I decided to choose the Crown Of Creation direction because I think that album was more important and a little stronger.

You have the Pixies, Stooges, and Velvet Underground listed and you have the nerve to cap on Foreigner?

My comment wasn't serious - I haven't actually heard anything by Foreigner other than that I Wanna Know What Love Is crap. You sound p*ssed, sorry if I offended you in any way. But yeah, I'd fight for VU, Stooges and Pixies to death. Incredible bands, all three.
