Hey, we've got Sgt. Pepper and Revolver, so how about Magical Mystery Tour. It's a pretty good album, I think. Lots of creative songs.
My favorites:
1. I Am The Walrus
2. Hello Goodbye
3. Your Mother Should Know
-
Good but they should release a album of MMT period songs the second half of the '67 recordings. Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane sound more Pepper than MMT.
1. I Am The Walrus
2. The Fool On The Hill
3. Hello Goodbye
-
Something like this Remixed and Remastered with some new sounds from the sessions and maybe dialogue from the film. They could expand the film with the Promo's and newly edited material. This coud be the soundtrack.
- Side One-
1: Magical Mystery Tour
2: Your Mother Should Know
3: I Am The Walrus
4: The Fool On The Hill
5: Flying
6: Blue Jay Way
- Side Two-
7: Hello Goodbye
8: Baby You're A Rich Man
9: All Together Now
10: You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)
11: It's All Too Much
12: All You Need Is Love
-
1. Hello Goodbye
2. The Fool On The Hill
3. Blue Jay Way
-
As I've always thought of MMT as an EP rather than an album:
1. I Am The Walrus
2. Fool On The Hill
3. Blue Jay Way
-

I've fought this battle long and hard. MMT is no more a Beatle album than the US Hey Jude release. It's a greatest hits/MMT EP combo. Shouldn't be judged as a Beatle album. It was neither concieved or approved by them.
-
I've fought this battle long and hard.
I can imagine the sleepless nights. The endless, agonising arguments for and against. The tossing and turning. My God how you've suffered!
-
Plenty of tossing, that's for sure. I suffer for my art.
-
1. I Am The Walrus (no one has ever topped this!!)
2. The Fool On The Hill
3. Your Mother Should Know
I always struggle to call it an album as it was originally an EP, but
fantastic album!! :)

3. your mother should know

this one is so difficult... i love every single song on the album so much.... i can't really choose. those 6 are on top. and putting 1-3 on top would mean 4-6 are behind them... but they aren't. they're perfect. so difficult. one of my favourite albums/eps

Strawberry Fields Forever
Your Mother Should Know + Magical Mystery Tour [couldn't pick one]

Every song is the best on that album with an exception of Blue Jay Way. I always skip that!
-
^^ I actually enjoy that one :)
-
It is very hard to pick.... MMT is a good album.... :)
-
My latest obsession-album is Rubber Soul ;D
-
Blue Jay Way is my least fav track on the album unfortunatly :-/
I also thought it was a bit out of place on the MMT EP & i don't think
its one of George's best lyrics. :-/
-
I used to not like Blue Jay Way... but... now I actually do.
But the top three for me would be (no order):
Strawberry Fields Forever
Fool on the Hill
Hello Goodbye... or I Am The Walrus (argh, can't decide... I'll go for a tie :))
And I also like Magical Mystery Tour (ie the song). And Flying makes me smile too... ;D

The Fool On The Hill
Your Mother Should Know
All You Need Is Love
All You Need kept popping up while my wife and I were planning our wedding, and I took her to see Love in Las Vegas as a honeymoon gift, so it became our "theme" and therefore holds a special place in my life.
Oh, and I can't decide if Strawberry Fields, Walrus or Blue Jay Way is #4.
-
Grrrrrrrrrr.
.
Ditto.
-
Erm, EP or LP, and of course you realize...?
Right; let's not go there again. ;D

tough one but my favs from MMT are:
I am the Walrus
Hello Goodbye
Fool on the Hill
-
Baby You're A Rich Man doesn't seem to be getting a lot of love.
-
I Am The Walrus
Strawberry Fields Forever
The Fool On The Hill
And the incomparable - All You Need Is Love!
Actually I love all the songs, and should say it`s impossible to choose the best three.
-
WHAT?? Has no one cited "Flying"?? ;)
My own three, in no particular order, would be "I Am the Walrus," "Strawberry Fields Forever," and "Hello Goodbye," with an honorable mention going to "Baby You're a Rich Man."
This will maybe be unpopular, but "The Fool on the Hill" might be my least favorite Beatles song ever...

Welcome to the show Megan. And a very good blog you have too.
-
In Order (1 = best):
1. I Am The Walrus
2. Strawberry Fields Forever
3. Hello Goodbye
(Penny Lane is a close 4th)
-
My favorite three would have to be Baby You're A Rich Man, Your Mother Should Know, and Strawberry Fields.
-
1. Strawberry Fields Forever
2. The Fool on the Hill
3. All You Need is Love
All these songs have a deep message that I can connect to, and they are enjoyable to listen to (like all Beatles music).
I sometimes feel like I'm the fool on the hill.
-
Penny Lane
I Am The Walrus
You're Mother Should Know
-
1.Fool On The Hill (wonderful melody, awesome lyrics ; my 3rd favourite Beatles song i think ... :o)
2.Strawberry Fields Forever (nothing to say....)
3.Hello Goodbye (love the ending!)
I never liked that much "Your Mother Should Know". Altough Paul's my favourite, I think that he can write better lyrics than this song's. But that's just my opinion. ;D
-
1.The Fool on the Hill
2.Baby You're A Rich Man
3.Blue Jay Way
-
From The Film:
1 I Am The Walrus
2 Your Mother Should Know
3 Magical Mystery Tour
From The Album - Top Three:
1 Strawberry Fields Forever
2 Penny Lane
3 Hello Goodbye
From The Album - Bottom Three:
3 Baby You're A Rich Man
2 Blue Jay Way
1 Flying
-
I´ve never been that fond of I´am the Walrus. Maybe it will kick in some time later.
..anyway:
1. Strawberry Fields
2. Penny Lane
3. Hello, Goodbye
-
Magical Mystery Tour is one of my favorite albums, but I guess if I had to choose three it would be:
All You Need is Love
I Am The Walrus
Strawberry Fields Forever
-

Same here! I like parts of it okay but other parts ruin it for me. I am good at turning the volume down just before but I still know they are there!
1. Hello Goodbye
2. Your Mother Should Know (It's playing as I type actually.)
3. Fool on the Hill
-
Top 3:
- The Fool on the Hill
- I Am the Walrus
- Hello, Goodbye
-
Depends -

I'd agree with this one, apart from I'd have Walrus above Penny Lane in the first set of three.
I have been reading the Geoff Emerick book and have just got through the MMT section - sounded like a very strange time for the band, with Brian's death and Paul assuming control by pushing ahead with his film idea. Walrus was the first song they recorded after Brian's death - Emerick says that you can hear in their playing that their hearts aren't in it. Apparently Ringo - unusually for him - wasn't keeping the timing very well so Paul stopped playing bass on the backing track and just stood in front of Ringo with a tambourine to help him keep a regular beat going. And John insisted on playing the keyboard part even though he kept making mistakes with it. Must have been a very stressful session for everyone, I suppose. A great song that came out of it, though.
-
Yes, I remember reading that part of Geoff Emerick's book; sounds like it was a pretty melancholic recording session. :(
-
In no particular order:
I Am The Walrus
Strawberry Fields Forever
The Fool On The Hill
I think MMT is a terrific album in every sense of the word. I never liked "Blue Jay Way" and yet ... it has a very cosmic vibe that has grown on me.
-
1. Flying
2. Magical Mystery Tour
3. Baby You're a Rich Man
-
1. Flying
Interesting choice! Welcome aboard btw.

-Penny Lane
-I Am The Walrus

Even though I don't listen to it every time I have come to respect Blue Jay Way and how George crafted it. It really seems like your waiting all night for the song to end like he was waiting for Derek Taylor to arrive at the house he was renting.
I also like Baby Your a Rich Man.
I Am the Walrus is on top I think.
-
1. Strawberry Fields Forever
2. Baby You're a Rich Man
3. I Am the Walrus
"no you're not!" said little Nicola
-
1. Blue Jay Way
2. Strawberry Fields Forever
3. Your Mother Should Know
I love I Am The Walrus and Baby You're A Rich Man though.. Penny Lane's a bit over listened to for me.
