Here's a new game - ask a question and whoever is the first to get it right (or wrong!) asks the next question. If their answer was wrong - it doesn't matter we can continue on regardless (but supply the correct answer).
Keep the questions fairly simple because then we can ALL fight to be the first to answer!! :)
Here we go...
Who sang the "aaaaaaahs"... ha ha, no - just kidding!!! ;D
What were the first and last words sung by The Beatles when we first heard them in 1962 and last heard them in 1970?
-
I must say this is becoming a game forum, with all these heal/hurt and other games... But alright:
Question 1: It was John AND Paul singing the aaah's, lol!
Question 2: Love, love me do and Let it be
Is that correct?
Next: who plays the horn on For No One?
-
Alan Civil.
In which Beatles song do they sing "Frere Jacques" in the background?
-
Paperback Writer
Tell me which albums were origin-alley released in another season different to summer or autumn ... (UK market)...
-
Call that easy?
-
C'mon, zipp ... we all know they used to released one in summer and another one in autumn (two per year, more or less) ... but there were some exceptions ... not many ... which ones? :)
P.S. I'm talking about their p(r)oper career (62-70), of course! ;D
You can use my ranking: 8)
1. Guys For Sale
2. Abbey Road
3. Let It Be
4. The Guys
5. Please Please Me
6. Revolver
7. Rubber Soul
8. Yellow Submarine
9. Help!
10. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
11. Magical Mystery Tour
12. A Hard Days Night
13. With The Guys

...
What were the first and last words sung by The Beatles when we first heard them in 1962 and last heard them in 1970?
... last words? where? UK or US? ...
... US-er single The Long And Winding Road/For You Blue or Get Back LP song from UK-ian Let It Be album ?
I think they are "Love, Love Me Do ... " and "Get back to where you once belonged" (in UK)
-
I think they are "Love, Love Me Do ... " and "Get back to where you once belonged" (in UK)
Yeah UK - the clue was the 1962 date - no US releases in 1962!
So...
"Love" from the Love Me Do single
"Belonged" from the last track on the Let It Be LP (or you can hear someone say "get back home" just before the 'ooooh')
I thought that was easy! ;D
-
Tell me which albums were origin-alley released in another season different to summer or autumn ... (UK market)...
Yeah - not so easy that one!!
Here goes...
Please Please Me - March = spring(?)
With The Beatles - November = winter
Beatles For Sale - December = winter
Rubber Soul - December = winter
Collection of Oldies - December - winter
Sgt Pepper - June = end of spring!
White Album - November = winter
Yellow Submarine - January - winter
Let It Be - May spring-ish
My EASY question for you -
Who backed Paul's lead vocal when The Beatles played All My Loving in concert?
-
Yeah - not so easy that one!!
Here goes...

Rubber Soul - December = winter

I thought it was easier than Alan Civil's one... ??)

Rubber Soul - December = winter
Collection of Oldies - December - winter
Sgt Pepper - June = end of spring!
White Album - November = winter
Yellow Submarine - January - winter
Let It Be - May spring-ish
The answer:
the first one: Plese Please Me,
the last one: Let It Be,
the most famous one: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Herts Club Band and
the weird-east one: Yellow Submarine ...
... the others were realeased in summer or autumn (remember that winter begins in the third week of December)
Answering your too? easy question: John Lennon ... at least that's what I've seen in the videos ... I've never attended one of their concerts ... :-/
-
Sorry ... my question (tell me if this is difficult too) ...
You know The Guys decided the name for their brand new album for 1966 while touring in Japan ... well, tell me -at least- two alternate names for that album ...
... The Guys were thinking about calling the album ...? or ... ? :)
-

Well your question was very tricky and a bit subjective because I would always consider November and December to be winter because it's bloody cold!!!!!
So anyway...
George provided backing vocals to Paul's lead when they played All My Loving live. I haven't seen them live in person either, by the way!
The answer to your question in respect proposed album titles for Revolver, was "Abracadabra", "Magic Circles" and "Beatles On Safari" I believe.
Next question...
Which Beatle sang lead vocals on the old Marlene Dietrich song Falling In Love Again, ?
-
I vote for Sir Paul ...
------
What's the date and hour (aprox.) when the photo for Abbey Road album cover was taken? ...
... if you don't know it you can tell me if they are entering or leaving the studio in that pic and -at least- two alternate names for that album ... again ...
-
yeah it was paul 4 sure...he and the others were hung up on marlene deitrich....it went over well in germany..who did the honeymoon song???
-
Paul again ...
... and Your Feets Too Big?
-
sh*t...i am drawing a blank.....pete best?john i think...i can't even hear it in my head
what am i smoking right now??
-
Paulie again ... ask you this time ...
-
ok seriously what was the guy who did tie me kangaroo down with the beatles name?
-
Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport? ... Rolf Harris? with The Guys at the BBC ... he sung a verse to each of them, didn't he? ...
-
yeah....you didn't say what i was smoking tho....fumar.....
-
Your question Raxo! :)

I don't think this has been answered yet.
The photo was taken on a Sunday morning I think but not too early.
They're walking away from the studio.
One alternate title was Everest.I can't think of another one!
A bit of a half answer so here's half a question.
Complete this sequence : John,Paul,George,Ringo and...

Complete this sequence : John,Paul,George,Ringo and...
It was taken in August 8th, 1969 about 11 o'clock in the morning leaving the studio, correct.
Alternate titles: Everest (Geoff's cigarrattes) correct ... and a fake one: Ringo suggested another one on Anthology Book, can't remember right now but it was something like "Billy's left boot" ...
-------
Answering (trying to) your question: Bert?
-
My turn now?
I'd like to finnish that "alternate titles" thing ...
tell me one for Please Please Me, one for The Guys and two for Let It Be (let's forget alternate titles for the first and second films 'cos they are well-known) ... I'm asking for 4 answers I know but there are 1-2 quite easy, I think ... :)
-
Bert is correct.
A stage show from the seventies that I actully saw.
I've only got three of your titles so I'll leave it to somebody else!
-
Tell them ... and I'll say the other one for Let It Be! 8) ;)
Then you'll ask one! ;D

"Titles suggested: Four in the Bar; All Good Children Go to Heaven; Turn Ups; Inclinations."
According to Mal Evans' diaries:

Next EASY question...
Who sang lead on Take Good Care Of My Baby?
-
George Harrison.
Who was the Beatles' very first drummer?
-
Pete Best.
-
Nah, I think it was Tommy Moore: http://dmbeatles.com/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-fifths/m-1103474956/
-
Next question? :)
-
What was the last song of their last concert in 1966? Easy....
-
Hmmm - off the top of my head... was it Long Tall Sally?
If it was.... my question is...
Who played lead guitar on Get Back?
-
Hmmm - off the top of my head... was it Long Tall Sally?
Correct! They played something else as a closer on that tour, but for this occasion and for old times sake, they played Long Tall Sally. The concert was taped, but because the tape wasn't long enough, the recording ended before Long Tall Sally and the concert were finished. Symbolism....
Who played lead guitar on Get Back?
I'm not good in these things... Let's see. It wasn't Ringo, right? I say it's John Lennon.
-
LOL!
Yeah JL!
Your question.......
-
Who played the song 'Boys' before The Beatles covered it?
-
The Shirelles (it was the B-side of Will You Love Me Tomorrow)
Next....
Which Beatle sang Honey Don't before Ringo took the lead vocal?
-
Ah, listen to the BBC recordings: John Lennon. Again. It's easy, the answer to all your questions is 'John Lennon'. ;D
Who was the first to have a Top 10 hit in the UK or US with a song written by Lennon and McCartney, other than the Beatles?
-
LOL! Didn't realise all my questions were John answers! Ooops! ;D
Ooh, that's tricky question though - I'm not too good with charts!!!
Let me see - 1st US cover was by Del Shannon, 1st UK cover was Kenny Lynch but I'm not sure that they charted too well, so... but, I'm gonna go with Billy J Kramer and the Dakota's Do You Want To Know A Secret.
-
To tell you the truth, I don't even know myself ;D ! I was hoping to learn something here. Let's just say you're right. Next question.
-
LOL!
OK.. erm... What was the first UK Parlophone single to include a song by a non-Beatle composer (clue: it was a B-side)
-
That was probably Twist And Shout, released in 1976.
-
Yep, you're right - the A-side was Back In The USSR. The two tracks were taken from The Beatles' "Rock 'n' Roll Music" double LP.
Your turn... :)
-
When was the last time The Beatles played at the Cavern?
-
Last lunchtime show was 4th February 1963, but last EVER appearance was 3rd August 1963.
Who played drums on Back In The USSR?
-
The famous Paul McCartney...
With whom visited Brian Epstein the Cavern on that famous day in November 1961, when he met The Beatles?
-
Alsitair Taylor... I think!
-
Correct. Your go.
-
OK - who recorded the ORIGINAL version of Twist And Shout?
It's not as easy as you might think! :)
And here's a bonus point - what is the link between the original song and The Beatles.
-
I always thought it was The Isley Brothers. The link? Ehm, The Beatles also did 'Shout'?
-
Aha! Got ya! ;)
The orignal version was by The Top Nots and was produced by Phil Spector and is crap! LOL ;D
-
I knew I got it wrong, for The Isley Brothers was too obvious. I see the link is that Phil Spector produced crap on both The Top Nots and the Beatles.
-
Ha ha! Yeah, good point!
That Top Notes version sounds almost like a doo-wop song - it's really bad!
It's co-composer, Bert Burns (AKA Bert Russel), hated it too so he decided to re-cut the track and produce the song himself - that was the Isley's version we all know and love!
-
You happened to know the Mama's And The Papa's version of Twist And Shout? Although I really like other MATP's songs, this is really bad taste...
-
Oh yeah - it's a really slow 'stoner' version! Not good! :)
-
Aha! Got ya! ;)
The orignal version was by The Top Nots and was produced by Phil Spector and is crap! LOL ;D
phil knew crap well.....
-
to know him is to love him was written about his dad.....
-
^yeah, good ole Bernard.
Which singer was first to do a Lennon/McCartney song? (although flopped with it)
Bonus: Name of the song?
-
I think we may have already had this one but... I think the 1st US cover was by Del Shannon with From Me To You, 1st UK cover was MIsery by Kenny Lynch but I'm not sure that either charted too well.
Billy J Kramer and the Dakota's had the first MAJOR success with Do You Want To Know A Secret though I believe.
-

"Um... Where's The Next Question End? lol
"Oh Well... I'll Just Post One Anyway"
Who Was Best Man At John & Yoko's Wedding?
-
Peter Brown
In summer 1968 the Beatles received a letter expressing enthusiasm for the song "Revolution"
Who wrote this personal letter?
-
^I haven't got a clue. Mao?
-
p treadeau???
-
Ok. Tough one I guess.
It was Queen Mum.
Next question:
What was the working title of "I Want To Tell You", referring to a product?
-
Laxton's Superb
-
;D Right....so what's your next question?
-
Who is Dwarf McDougal?
-
John used this name on 'Wallls And Bridges'. Dwarf was the name of Dylan's music company, McDougal was the name of the street Dylan's Greenwich Village apartment was on.
Who is Ian Iachimoe?
-
Lol! I had to look that one up.
Ian Iachimoe was the name under the manuscript of Paperback Writer, so in fact the one that wrote the letter to the 'Dear Sir or Madam'.
-
yeah, and who was Ian Iachimoe and how did the name come up?
-
i just love they way this babe plays hardballs here....thank you for the fun...kate...it was how pauls family and mates addressed letters to him... Ian. Ian Iachimoe is Paul McCartney's name played backwards on a tape recorder. When Paul wrote "Paperback Writer", he signed the lyric sheet, "Sincerely, Ian Iachimoe".
-
OH SWEET IT'S MY GO!!!!
what is the differnce in the two reordings of my bonnie by the beatles and tony sheridan????if you surf just right you'll hit a site with the info...
-

i love this album...
-
One version has a German intro and the other has an English intro. :)
-
next question please, no excuse just because it's your B-day :P
-
Oh, was I right then?
OK here's an easy birthday question then :)
Erm...
Who played lead guitar on You Can't Do That?
-

Thanks Marshall-Luv :K) that was the explanation I was hoping for
Oh, was I right then? OK here's an easy birthday question then :) Erm...Who played lead guitar on You Can't Do That?
here's what I found:
There were two versions of that first single, one (called the "rock" version) had the intro in
German and the other (the "twist" version) had the slow intro in English. These were distinguished
from one another both on the label and on the picture sleeve. The "twist" version of the song sold
better, and very soon, "My Bonnie" found itself in the German Top Twenty, finally selling up to
180,000 copies in Germany. The single was held back until October, 1961 ("Rock"), and mid-January,
1962 ("Twist").
++++++++++++++++++++++++
Lead guitar on "You Can't Do That" was played by Johnny ;D
++++++++++++++++++++++++
Here's the next question:
remember the film "Help"
what's written on the metal box that was placed in the underground beneath the Beatles when they tried to record
"The Night Before"
-
One version has a German intro and the other has an English intro. :)
kate was right...the rock version was more popular too....
-
It is actually the same version of the song except with a slow German or slow English intro - there is also a version with the intro trimmed off completely! :)
-
yeah so what???...Tony Sheridan was billed as the leader of the group because it would be Tony who stayed on to record albums for Polydor if the first single sold. "My Bonnie"/"The Saints" (Polydor NH 24-673) was billed as by "Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers." As Tony recalls it, Beat Brothers was used instead of Beatles because "Beatles" sounded a lot like the German slang word for penis, which was "peedles." (Remember John saying "Beatle peedles" on a Christmas record?) There were two versions of that first single, one (called the "rock" version) had the intro in German and the other (the "twist" version) had the slow intro in English. These were distinguished from one another both on the label and on the picture sleeve. The "twist" version of the song sold better, and very soon, "My Bonnie" found itself in the German Top Twenty, finally selling up to 180,000 copies in Germany. remember the film "Help"
what's written on the metal box that was placed in the underground beneath the Beatles when they tried to record
"The Night Before"
I researched it, but unless I got the wrong picture, I can't read it properly. Something about 'Exactly one million (?) of all the ...... exploded in one week in the second world war'. Is this what you're looking for?
-
And there are 100 points for Mr Bobber!!! Hey! That's the one I was looking for:
"Exactly one millionth of all the explosives, exploded in one week in the second world war"
So Bobber, what's your next question? :)
-
what is the nickname of this issue..(http://www.itsonlyrocknroll.com/catphotos/26430.jpg)
-
^ I haven't got the faintes clue - the Flaming Pie?
-
I don't know... We have to ask pc31.
-
yes katie girl...it is the famous flaming pie issue...ok bobber its your turn....ask away...
-
I can think of seven drummers who has, for longer or shorter periods, worked with John, Paul and George in The Beatles. Can you name them?
-
^ Ringo, Norman Chapman, Tommy Moore, Pete Best, Jimmy Nichol, Andy White .....still one missing.....
-
Look at this picture from Chass Avery's site:
And I know one more: remember the Ronnie-episode, the story about the teddy boy who played with the Beatles for one night?
-
....and Johnny Hutchinson
Another one? Hey, that's not fair - you said seven drummers :P
who's the 8th then? Keith Moon? Yoko? ;D
-
No, it's a guy called Ronnie. The story is that The Beatles had a gig somewhere on the Merseyside, I think it's the Litherland Town Hall. Because their drummer Tommy Moore didn't show up, John explained to the audience that they had no drummer unfortunately, but maybe someone was willing to play the drums tonight... It was a joke of course, but an enormous teddy boy called Ronnie stood up and took place behind the drums. The Beatles were to scared to tell him he could only 'play' the drums this night. Alan Williams came over to try and solve the thing... But you could say Ronnie was a Beatle for one night.
Your go, Kate.
-
astrid gave stu the first beatles style haircut....but who and where were john and paul given one by????
-
Jurgen Vullmer
-
correct you balloon popping so and such...October 9
John spent his 21st birthday in Paris with Paul.
THE ORIGINS OF THE 'BEATLE CUT'
John: "Paris has always been the object of English romanticism, hasn't it? I fell for Paris first of all, even before Hamburg. I remember spending my 21st birthday there with Paul in 1961 . . ."
In Paris they visited Jurgen Vollmer, a friend from the Reeperbahn, who had moved there to study photography. He wore his hair brushed forward in a fashion which was popular among some French youths, and was a style he had been introduced to by Astrid Kirchherr, who cut Stuart Sutcliffe's hair that way when they were all in Hamburg. John and Paul decided they wanted their hair like Jurgen's and asked him to do it. Jurgen Vollmer: "I gave both of them their first Beatles haircut in my hotel room on the Left Bank."
Paul: "Jurgen was in Paris on that trip, and we said, 'Do us a favour, cut our hair like you've cut yours.' So he did it, and it turned out different, 'cos his wasn't exactly a Beatle cut, but ours fell into The Beatles thing. We didn't really start that. The impression that got over was that it was just us, that we'd started it all. We kept saying, 'But there's millions of people in art schools who look like this. We're just the spokesmen for it.'"
Astrid had initially copied the style from a Jean Cocteau movie. Cocteau's favourite actor, Jean Marais, wore his hair brushed forward to play Oedipus in Cocteau's 1959 Le Testament d'Orphee and so that is the ultimate origin of the famous Beatles haircut.
Aunt Mimi told the Liverpool Echo that she remembered the time that John slipped off to Paris to "sell his paintings" and that some unsuspecting Frenchman has a Lennon original on his wall.
-
Next question....
-
who played the drums on this one?
-
As John and Paul were the only ones present during the recording of The Ballad Of John And Yoko, I'd say let the best drummer drum. Paul McCartney.
-
correct. Your turn Bobber
-
Hello, hello...? Anybody out there? Any new quesitons? :)
-
Oh! My turn!
In which European countries did the Beatles perform besides England?
-
some of them..... ;D
-
That's correct. Your turn.
-
no way that was coerced..i will venture some guesses...denmark,holland,ireland...who was william campbell??
-
Italy, Spain, Sweden, Germany, France, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, UK
-
why ain't it spelled danmark no more?or was it?
-
Danmark is how the Danish spell it, I think.
-
William Cambell is the guy who supposed to had replaced macca when he "died"
i suppose that would make him billy shears and responsible for the frog song ;D
-
who was p cole?????
-
That would be PETER COE who was a tenor sax player who played on GOT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE .
thats not that easy PC31 i think it was a dirty one ;D
What was GRANNY SMITH ? [AND WERE NOT TALKIN APPLE ]
-
paul cole actually.....the other man on the cover of abbey road...
-
OH bugger! ::)
-
What was GRANNY SMITH ? [AND WERE NOT TALKIN APPLE ]
I think it was the working title for I Want To Tell You. Or was that another apple?
-
Close right album BOBBER
Laxtons Superb was I WANT TO TELL YOU :)
-
It's the name Geoff Emerick put on the tape box for Harrison's "Love You To" cuz George didn't always have titles!! I'm reading Emerick's book and I just got to that part. I actually had to get up at almost 3 in the morning just to answer this question. My obsession is getting the better of me lately. :B
-
Here's a question:
What pseudonym was mainly used when booking the Beatles at Abbey Road Studios?
-
You are absolutley correct SANDRA :)
As for your question i`ll have to have a think on that one ,but at 3.oo oclock in the morning ;D
-
Here's a question:
What pseudonym was mainly used when booking the Beatles at Abbey Road Studios?
Only one I can think of is - The Siamese Quads - which Ringo used to sometimes call them.
-
I shall ask a question if i can:
What is apprently the first song John Lennon ever wrote? and what is the first song Paul ever wrote?
-
To tired to think ... Hello Little Girl and I Lost My Little Girl?
-
you're right with "I lost my little girl" (as far as I know!) but not John's song!
-
John changed the lyrics of Dell Vikings's song "Come Go With Me" and the title of The Viper's song "Streamline Train" to "Long Black Train" plus new lyrics. I don't think it can be considered as HIS first song(s). Although his first completed song is believed to be "Hello Little Girl", he had already written most of "I Call Your Name" when he was 15. The song was completed in 1963 and given to Billy J. Krammer to record. Krammer released it as the B-side to "Bad To Me", which John also wrote. The Beatles recorded "I Call Your Name" in 1964 and released it on their Long Tall Sally EP (UK).
If I'm not mistaken...

The song was completed in 1963 and given to Billy J. Krammer to record. Krammer released it as the B-side to "Bad To Me", which John also wrote. The Beatles recorded "I Call Your Name" in 1964 and released it on their Long Tall Sally EP (UK).
If I'm not mistaken...
cool! i didn't know this! its all intresting stuff!
see, I am just assuming the song I know is his first song as I heard this from a few sources! its intresting to know alot of their earliest songs! :)

Yes, it is interesting, that's why I love quizzes, they makes me search for things and learn a lot. But the information I posted is just something I read somewhere, is it the answer of your question?
-
ah nope, not the answer to my question! johns song still has to be found! (according to what i think the answer is!)

I shall ask a question if i can:
What is apprently the first song John Lennon ever wrote? and what is the first song Paul ever wrote?
that was 2....disqualified....This award-winning documentary tracks Beatles George Harrison's now historic 1963 visit to Benton, Illinois to see his sister. Because this was at the beginning of the pop phenomenon's career (Harrison was a mere 20 years old!,) this visit allowed the star to have his first interview on the famous Saturday Session radio show with Marsha Shaffer, who also played the first Beatles record in Benton in September of that year. This film includes interviews with Shaffer, as well as the 4 Vests, a group who performed with George during his visit.
-
what was johns' first song that featured only him on instruments and vocals?
-
I'll have a bash... Aint She Sweet (when he sang it Cynthia after Lettering Class, according to Cynthia) :P

John and walrusses. In what three Beatles songs he's talking about them. Now, that's an easy one, isn't it?
the walrus and the carpenter (copied of course)
The sun was shining on the sea,
Shining with all his might:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright--
And this was odd, because it was
The middle of the night.
The moon was shining sulkily,
Because she thought the sun
Had got no business to be there
After the day was done--
"It's very rude of him," she said,
"To come and spoil the fun!"
The sea was wet as wet could be,
The sands were dry as dry.
You could not see a cloud, because
No cloud was in the sky:
No birds were flying overhead--
There were no birds to fly.
The Walrus and the Carpenter
Were walking close at hand;
They wept like anything to see
Such quantities of sand:
"If this were only cleared away,"
They said, "it would be grand!"
"If seven maids with seven mops
Swept it for half a year.
Do you suppose," the Walrus said,
"That they could get it clear?"
"I doubt it," said the Carpenter,
And shed a bitter tear.
"O Oysters, come and walk with us!"
The Walrus did beseech.
"A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk,
Along the briny beach:
We cannot do with more than four,
To give a hand to each."
The eldest Oyster looked at him,
But never a word he said:
The eldest Oyster winked his eye,
And shook his heavy head--
Meaning to say he did not choose
To leave the oyster-bed.
But four young Oysters hurried up,
All eager for the treat:
Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,
Their shoes were clean and neat--
And this was odd, because, you know,
They hadn't any feet.
Four other Oysters followed them,
And yet another four;
And thick and fast they came at last,
And more, and more, and more--
All hopping through the frothy waves,
And scrambling to the shore.
The Walrus and the Carpenter
Walked on a mile or so,
And then they rested on a rock
Conveniently low:
And all the little Oysters stood
And waited in a row.
"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."
"But wait a bit," the Oysters cried,
"Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!"
"No hurry!" said the Carpenter.
They thanked him much for that.
"A loaf of bread," the Walrus said,
"Is what we chiefly need:
Pepper and vinegar besides
Are very good indeed--
Now if you're ready, Oysters dear,
We can begin to feed."
"But not on us!" the Oysters cried,
Turning a little blue.
"After such kindness, that would be
A dismal thing to do!"
"The night is fine," the Walrus said.
"Do you admire the view?
"It was so kind of you to come!
And you are very nice!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"Cut us another slice:
I wish you were not quite so deaf--
I've had to ask you twice!"
"It seems a shame," the Walrus said,
"To play them such a trick,
After we've brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"The butter's spread too thick!"
"I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.
"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

The Peace-Pipe
(From

more accurately....
Came the Mandans and Dacotahs,
Came the Hurons and Ojibways,
All the warriors drawn together
By the signal of the Peace-Pipe,
To the Mountains of the Prairie,
To the great Red Pipe-stone Quarry,
And they stood there on the meadow,
With their weapons and their war-gear,
Painted like the leaves of Autumn,
Painted like the sky of morning,
Wildly glaring at each other;
In their faces stem defiance,
In their hearts the feuds of ages,
The hereditary hatred,
The ancestral thirst of vengeance.
Gitche Manito, the mighty,
The creator of the nations,
Looked upon them with compassion,
With paternal love and pity;
Looked upon their wrath and wrangling
But as quarrels among children,
But as feuds and fights of children!
Over them he stretched his right hand,
To subdue their stubborn natures,
To allay their thirst and fever,
By the shadow of his right hand;
Spake to them with voice majestic
As the sound of far-off waters,
Falling into deep abysses,
Warning, chiding, spake in this wise:
-
and agin.....
Down the rivers, o'er the prairies, came the
warriors of the nations,
All the warriors drawn together
By the signal of the Peace-Pipe, to the Mountains of the Prairie,
And they stood there in the meadow,
With their weapons and their war-gear, painted like the leaves of Autumn,
Painted like the sky of morning, wildly glaring at each other;
In their faces stern defiance, in their hearts the feuds of ages,
The hereditary hatred, the ancestral

Looked upon their wrath and wrangling,

To subdue their stubborn natures, to allay their thirst and fever,
By the shadow of his right hand;
Spake to them with voice majestic,
As the sound of far-off waters, falling into deep abysses,
Warning chiding, spake in this wise:
"O my children! My poor children! Listen to the words of wisdom,
Listen to the words of warning, from the lips of the Great Spirit,
From the Master of Life, who made you:
"I have given you lands to hunt in, I have given you streams to fish in.
I have given you bear and bison, I have given you roe and reindeer,
I have given you brant and beaver, filled the marshes full of wildfowl,
Filled the rivers full of fishes; Why then are you not contented?
Why then do you hunt each other:
"I am weary of your quarrels, weary of your wars and bloodshed,
Weary of your prayers for vengeance, of your wranglings and dissensions.
All your strength is in your union, all your danger is in discord;
Therefore be at peace henceforward, and as
brothers live together.
"I will send a Prophet to you, a Deliverer of the
nations,
Who shall guide you and shall teach you, who shall toil and suffer with you,
If you listen to his counsels, you will multiply and prosper;
If his warnings pass unheeded, you will fade away and perish!
"Wash the war-paint from your faces, wash the blood-stains from your fingers,
Bury your war-clubs and your weapons,
Break the red stone from the quarry, mould and make it into Peace-Pipes,
Take the reeds that grow beside you, deck them with your brightest feathers,
Smoke the calumet together, and as brothers live henceforward!"
Then upon the ground the warriors, threw their cloaks and shirts of deer skin,
Threw their weapons and their war-gear, leaped into the rushing river,
Washed the war-paint from their faces,
Clear above them flowed the water, clear and limpid from the foot-prints
Of the Master of Life descending;
Dark below them flowed the water, soiled and stained withstreaks of crimson,
As if blood were mingled with it!
From the river came the warriors, clean and washed from all all their war-paint;
On the banks their clubs they buried, buried all their warlike weapons.
Gitche Manito, the mighty, the Great Spirit,
the Creator,
Smiled upon his helpless children!
And in silence all the warriors, broke the red stone of the quarry,
Smoothed and formed it into Peace-Pipes, broke the long reeds of the river,
Decked them with their brightest feathers, and departed each one homeward.

Love the sunshine of the meadow,
Love the shadow of the forest,
Love the wind among the branches,

Through their palisades of pine-trees,

When Irish Eyes Are Smiling
Which actor appeared in three Beatles films?
Correct answer, but pc was supposed to get it through his Irish ancestors!
I imagine Victor Spinetti was in three Beatles films.
If so, here's a (deceptively?) easy question :
How many different songs did the fabs play at their last concert?
-

Here's a question:
What pseudonym was mainly used when booking the Beatles at Abbey Road Studios?
Only one I can think of is - The Siamese Quads - which Ringo used to sometimes call them.
And the answer was??
-
Roy Kinnear 2 Beatles 1 only with John
12 Songs
-
How many different songs did the fabs play at their last concert?
I'm saying 11. The rooftop wasn't really a concert.
-
Since everbody calls it the 'rooftop concert' then that is what I'm referring to!
And the right answer hasn't been given yet.
-
Order of play:
1. Beatles - Rooftop Setup (1:24)
2. Beatles - Get Back (2:30)
3. Beatles - Get Back (3:57)
4. Beatles - I Want You (She's So Heavy) (1:45)
5. Beatles - Get Back (3:25)
6. Beatles - Don't Let Me Down (3:29)
7. Beatles - I've Got A Feeling (5:13)
8. Beatles - The One After 909 (0:17)
9. Beatles - The One After 909 (2:45)
10. Beatles - Danny Boy (0:09)
11. Beatles - Dig A Pony (1:39)
12. Beatles - Dig A Pony (4:32)
13. Beatles - God Save The Queen (2:10)
14. Beatles - I've Got A Feeling (5:29)
15. Beatles - A Pretty Girl Is Like A Melody (0:05)
16. Beatles - Get Back (0:05)
17. Beatles - Don't Let Me Down (3:31)
18. Beatles - Get Back (3:42)
I'm not counting the impromptu stuff (like Danny Boy). So there's Get Back, I Want You, Don't Let Me Down, I Got A Feeling, One After 909, Dig A Pony, God Save The Queen. That's seven.
-
Since everbody calls it the 'rooftop concert' then that is what I'm referring to!

Six, if you include God Save the Queen.

Why don't we take a look at this topic called "The Rooftop Concert Songlist:"?

Well done Bobber.
Over to you for the next question.
-
which beatle was Formula one fan??
-
Alright, an easy one. ;D
After they finished Long Tall Sally on their concert in Candlestick Park 1966, George plays a few notes of a song before The Beatles leave the stage for the last time. What song was that?
-
In My Life.
And George was into Formula One.
-
In My Life.
I never knew that. Is it on a boot? Hint, Hint!!
-
I never knew that. Is it on a boot? Hint, Hint!!
Paul (I think) asked Derek Taylor (I think) to tape their last concert. But due to the fact that they played Long Tall Sally at the end, they played longer than the tape was. So there are recordings of the last show, but it cuts off in the middle of Long Tall Sally. No sign of what happened after that.
