What are your thoughts on Beck (not Jeff!)? My personal favourite album is Sea Change - that was RIGHT out of the blue and I absolutely love it! :)
I know Apple Beatle likes him too!

I do, I got midnight Vultures and odelay....great stuff...free expresser...Always remains cool in his approach.
-
I always liked his music videos. They were completely out there.

Beck is so ridiculously good. Favorite album = ALL

You've lost all interest in Beatles haven't you.
What was all the genius talk when Beck first came around? I think he's okay. Some of his music is kind of redundant. But yeah, the videos were interesting. I should listen to more.

Sucks ass except for a few songs off of 'Guero'.

haha no. actually I'm listening to I'm Only Sleeping right now. I see why he's considered repetitive, because his style is so different, once he repeats it it sounds the same as his other songs. But he does great acoustic stuff too

Just getting into him. I own both 'Sea Change' and 'Odelay' and I enjoy them, even though they are very different from each other. I like the fact that he's varied and his music incorporates lots and lots of styles like alternative rock, folk, rap, blues or funk.
Here's a great example of his variety in just one song :

The vocal melody is pretty much rap, but there's also the Doors-like keyboard riff and the brass band joining from time to time. Then there's a few moments of techno/electro coming out of the blue, right at 1:20 (which is in fact, a sample created by The Dust Brothers in their own specific way). Around 3:20 there's a keyboard solo sounding even more like The Doors. Just a good song and performance.
