just look at their resentment when an american won their bike race 7 years in a row.

That's probably mostly because Lance Armstrong is an arrogant prick. Greg Lemond was an American too, he won the Tour as well and the French almost adopted him as one of their own.

Thank God Portugal didn't reach the final. I'm not really charmed by their game...

To see Ronaldo (Cristiano) cry was justice to my mind after seeing his smug antics aginst England. Slime. I hope he goes to Real Madrid real soon because I can feel the contempt for him rise over here. Why do good footballers resort to such poor tactics?

Here is an email that was sent to me in work:

There is a very real danger that Cristiano Ronaldo will be voted the fan's best young player at the World Cup despite his pouting, diving, pretty boy antics designed mainly to get himself a lucrative transfer to Real Madrid and thus avoid the good kicking he deserves from Wayne Rooney at the Man United training.

He is currently 1st in the FIFA voting just ahead of Luis Valencia of Ecuador.

Please can everyone go to: http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/bypa/eligible.html and do the decent thing by voting for Valencia.

It doesn't matter who you support or if you haven't even seen Luis Valencia play, just STOP Ronaldo.

Takes 30 seconds...You know it makes sense!!!!

PLEASE FORWARD TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE

It seems the email campaign has worked!!! Check this out: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2006/5153870.stm

Did you see Helder Postiga just falling down in the penalty area yesterday. He just fell down and this sh*thead Scolari screaming and jumping of anger.... What a show. I'm so glad they're out. They screwed both The Netherlands and England with their falling down tricks. Happy there was a good referee yesterday. He just ignored the screaming Portuguese...

I wonder what kind of match Holland vs Portugal would've been with yesterday's referee or that Mexican that did Italy vs Germany...

I must admit, the standard of refereeing has been apalling this world cup. The only decent ref was in the game with Germany and Italy in my opinion.

HUGE congratulations to Italy - it was a very hard-fought and enjoyable final! What the hell happened to Zidane though - he totally lost it! Nutter - quite literally!!

I was rooting for France though - but what do you expect, I support Le Arsenal!!! ;D

France outplayed Italy for most of the match.  But the Zidane head-butt was one of the weirdest things in sports, period.

I just wonder how France will blame the head-butt on America.

i heard on the radio that Zidane head-butted Matterazzi cause he supposedly said some racial stuff to him...not sure if its true though...

great result for Italy...i wasn't cheering for a team in particular after Poland was eliminated from the group stages but it was a great final!

Well, it was a foolish thing to do. What an end to a great carreer. And he let his team down as well. Until he left I believed France could win it. The French team might have thought the same.

yeah it was foolish, but i don't think he let his team down.  the italians had been playing defensively for 30 minutes, and its not like after Zidane went off they suddenly started attacking.  And as for PK's, i think Henry's substitute still would have shot.
