Thanks for sharing.
I've been reading carefully and I'd like to add some things:

"Between them, John and Paul wrote some 40 songs, many of which would appear on "The White Album." ...[...]... Donovan taught John a finger-style guitar technique that became the basis for "Dear Prudence." They wrote tunes such as "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill," "Julia," "Back in the U.S.S.R.," "Mean Mister Mustard," "Rocky Raccoon" and "Across the Universe."

40 songs, well, more or less:
John once said that he composed 15, that Paul said that he composed 12 and George about half a dozen (6). There is a bootleg where the guys with Donovan and perhaps Mike Love too are jamming but I don't consider those tracks real (new) songs.

Finger-style guitar is more predominant in Julia (as an example).

Across The Universe was recorded by the first time on Feb 04, 1968 (Sunday) 11 days before John, George, Cynthia and Pattie went to India (Ringo, Paul, Maureen and Jane did it 3 days later).

Interesting view, after all.

I was wondering about the validity of some of the info, too.  Thanks Raxo.  Too bad Mark Lewisohn wasn't there--then we would have gotten accurate!

Not exactly at Rishikesh but ...

In 1966, they went to India and were so influenced by the instruments made by Rikhiram, they brought the Sitar, tanpura, sarod and tabla from Rikhiram and played them in their music.

Bishan Dass playing for them ...

George trying ...

Signing some autographs ...

By the way, where are Ringo (and John in the last ones)? ??)
