Paul's one on one tour
« on: July 06, 2017, 11:57:53 PM »

one week away from seeing Paul for I think my 8th time.  Just read a quick but cool little article on Rolling Stone with Paul.  Anyone else seeing Paul this tour in the U.S. ?

You're going to really enjoy the concert.  I still think back to the more than two hour show he put on last August at MetLife Stadium.

It was great.  I've participated in many threads here regarding his voice and how it is faltering as he ages.  It was admittedly rough in the beginning but he found a groove and sounded fine for most of the show.  Really different play list than all the other times I've been lucky enough to see him.  From what I read before going, even different than a few nights ago in Tampa.  Weird he changed up on the fly.

Here is a local review of last night with the play list.  Of interest to me was how he mixed in a Quarrymen song, In Spite of All the Danger (cover I believe), Love Me Do sounded real good, he did FourFiveSeconds, Temporary Secretary and then most of the expected all timers.

Missing from the Tampa play list I read was Jet and Get Back of note.
He is opening the show with A Hard Day's Night, not sure if the song has been played on previous tours or not, I don't remember.

I took 3 of my kids (aged 15, 17, 19), the 19 year old had seen Paul one other time 8 years ago.  My 15 year old was looking at her phone at one point as Paul finished up Let it Be.  I told her to stand up and enjoy the next song.  I knew it was Live and Let Die and she was totally uninformed about the cannon/fireworks and jumped out of her skin.  Highlight of my night.

My 17 year old has autism and through me, loves listening to music and of course the Beatles.  He had never been to a concert and was ear to ear grinning all night, singing along and mimicking Abe the drummer.

My goal was to see Paul again for myself but to expose two more of my kids to Paul and concert going.  Now Paul's 3 hour show isn't the norm but regardless, mission accomplished.

Thanks for the review and links blmeanie.  Great to hear his voice is still holding up. Sounds like it was a wonderful family occasion for you.

I'm taking my daughter in December (who has had her Beatle fandom periods)  so hope to get a similar response.

It was great.

It sure sounds like it! I really enjoyed reading your account of the evening.

I bet the concert will usher in another Beatles phase!
