When I was 4 my nan took me to Liverpool Airport to see The Beatles when they came back here for the premier of A Hard Days Night at the Odeon in town. I can only just about remember the day. They waved at the crowds as they went passed in a big black car and then dissapeared out of sight. It was over in a flash. Afterwards my nan asked me if I knew who they were. I said yes John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Mick Jagger. Still to this day dont know why I said Mick Jagger but I was just a kid. I can just about remember their faces but its a very hazy memory these days. Never mind its a memory just the same.

I've seen Paul in concert, but I can only dream of meeting a Beatle face to face!

I can now say that I HAVE seen a Beatle.  Saw Paul in Atlanta 8/15/2009.  One of the highlights of my life and the best show I have ever seen!

My daughter's prep school teacher saw them in Melbourne, Australia in 1964. Not a concert but she was with the crowds in the streets outside the Town Hall.
The kids are singing 'Octopus's Garden' at the school Extravaganza next month.

Well ... Sure you hear about Paul McCartney which Israel summer 2008.
So at that time I was with my cousins who were there, and they invited us (they knew we were a family who loves The Beatles so they bought us tickets for a surprise!)
In short, I saw Paul McCartney and look older than I thought, well never mind..... The main thing I saw him.... ::)

I have seen Paul once in concert and Ringo three times. The last time I saw Ringo, a few years ago, I was in the 4th row center stage. It was INCREDIBLE! When you are that close you can literally tell when you make eye contact, you can feel it. I had a sign that said I LOVE YOU RINGO. I held it up several times, but he kept turning away and I didn't want to bother the people behind me. Finally, I held it up one last time and he saw it. He stopped what he was doing and came right to the edge of the stage and said, into the microphone, "I love you too, sweetheart."

It was one of those moments in life where you have the opportunity to be totally cool, and I could have just smiled and waved and been cool about it. Such was not the case however. :) as many of you can probably sympathize, I instead promptly burst into hysterical tears and dropped the sign. Ringo probably thought I was totally out of my mind. :) Everyone around me was like "you're so lucky!" and one woman said "Can I be you?" I bawled through the next song and a half - I didn't TRY to, I was just SLIGHTLY caught off guard by having a BEATLE, and my favorite one at the time, tell me he LOVED ME. :)

If you get a chance to see either live, if they tour again, don't pass it up. They are close to done - it's worth every penny!
that's such an awesome story! i wish i were you!

Yes. George in concert, back in 1974. Honestly, I must say that I was far from impressed. ;sorry

Well, the first part was with an orchestra freely based of musicians from Ravi Shankar’s following… than, when George came up, he looked kinda shy, singing in front a such a huge audience… and I guess the crowd expected to ”rock” a little more.

Unexpectedly, he did not play much of his Beatles’ years stuff, rather concentrated on his new material (from Dark Horse– not really one of his best albums to say the least). He did not play While my Guitar, or Taxman, for instance… only chose to make a rather bland rendition of For You Blue.

In fact, Billy Preston totally stole the show with his very own hits : That's The Way God Planned It, Nothing from Nothing and Will It Go Round In Circles; he’s the one who instilled a little life in a more or less disappointed audience.
 ;sorry

I heard that Ravi's orchestra was just tuning their instruments and got applause. The audience thought they had already started.

Thanks for sharing your memory!

Last thing, I forgot to indicate: I had very good tickets for that show (10th row)… and I found somewhere this morning – it kind of re-triggered my memories – that Ravi Shankar was ill, during that short leg of the tour… and did not appear.

Paul McCartney, Earls Court 2003......A lifetime dream come true and when he decided to do his longest set of Beatle songs to date since The Beatles stopped touring. :)
