Favourite Beatle Cover
« on: March 12, 2005, 04:04:11 PM »

Wondered what you guys thought of the best Beatle's cover that THEY performed?

Right now off the top of my head I can think of 'Twist nShout' which will probably rank high and 'Money' as some main contenders.

Right now though, I'm going for 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me'.... Lovely tune, really into at the mo. Is it 'Smokey Robinson?'

I love that song. You're right--Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. I really hold "Till There Was You" in high regard. I know its schmaltzy Broadway music, but George's solo is great.

I love that stuff--'Lend Me Your Comb', 'Carol', 'Soldier of Love'. I've got to give them tons of credit because they were covering some pretty obscure stuff back then.

I like the 'Not Ahrf' parts of 'Sheik of Araby' by John and Paul. George sings that one like he's smiling the whole way through.

Roll Over Beethoven, Twist and Shout, Bad Boy (John's singing on that one MELTS me into a puddle), You Really Got a Hold On Me ... Til There Was You is so cute. I love watching Paul perform it, he gets these gigantic puppy eyes and I can't help squealing like a teenybopper :P. Live At The BBC is a great compilation of songs, I could listen to it for hours and never get tired of it.

"I Got A Woman" would be my favorite at this very moment.
