I actually just read the other day that the remasters are done and they are planning on releasing them shortly. Give me an hour or so and i'll try to find a link or more information on the subject.

Beatles Won't Just Be On iTunes When Released Online
Aaron McKenna
February 13, 2007 06:52

Fox News (of all...) has spoken to Neil Aspinall, the man charged with caring for The Beatles legacy (and mountain of money making potential), about when and how we'll be seeing the legendary bands music come to the world of digital distribution.

After Apple Corps settled with Apple Computer over copyright skullduggery it has been widely assumed that iTunes will be seeing The Beatles collection sold on its store. That's true, but Aspinall - who has been quite crafty in how he has maintained the bands legacy, it must be said - also wants the back catalogue of potentially huge sellers to see the light of day on other online music services as well.

According to Fox the 13 core albums released to CD in 1987 have all been remastered for online distribution, and we're expecting their simultaneous release any day now. Interestingly with the change in rules about how the Top Singles Chart is compiled in the UK, allowing for songs of any age to be counted, some are hypothesising that we could see The Beatles dominate the Top 10 with multiple songs when they are released online.

One thing we won't be seeing getting a new release will be the 1970 film "Let it Be", which was concerned with the recording of the song of the same name; and, in the end, wound up showing much of the internal division and strife which eventually led to the breakup of The Beatles.

Some history is just too hard to bear, apparently...

Its probably old news anyways, but thats all I could find.

Thanks, everybody! :)

And, I've been buying all the albums for over eleven years now...mainly because there is so much music in the world and I used to have trouble finding Beatles-albums before internet.
And now I guess I'll wait if they will release those new ones soon... :)
I just saved money and spent my Christmasmoney on the Anthology-DVD set. Have not watched it yet, waiting for my winterbreak.
And one year I used my Christmasmoney from my Gran to buy Abbey Road, such a wonderful album! It's so great to think that Gran bought it for me, sort of.  8)

I'm a little confused. I'm not very familiar with iTunes and stuff, so could you please just tell me - are all the albums going to be released on CDs as well as online? If so, it would be fantastic - what a present for my coming birthday I'll give myself  ;D

I haven't read anything about remastered songs appearing on cd. In the news it's said that these remasters are going to be used for legal downloads. So, knowing the Apple strategy, I guess they will at first make them ONLY available for d/loads. After a couple of years, after they have sold enough, they will probably release them on cd or dvd, so we will buy the whole damn thing again and again and again.

Oh...  :-/
Thank you for the answer, Bobber! :)
I was just hoping... I don't really care about downloads, I've got all their albums in my PC, and I don't have an iPod. I like the feeling when I actually hold in my hands and see the album. I dreamed about a box set or something with all their UK albums, for example. I couldn't find any so far. But it would be just great if they release the remastered albums in such a set... at least I'll be happy  :)

Oh, yes, only downloads? :(
Blaah...now I have to decide whether only to play it safe and not buy albums for a while, or be wild and buy the missing links.... haaaard.  :-/

I'm not going to buy it either. Plus, I'm not proud to say, but in my country it's easy to find this illegal if it has leaked in torrent sites and such.
But I would spend a fortune if I find somewhere all their discography on CDs. Has something like this been released? A box set, an album collection, anything?
