Guys! I'm 14 and I and a lot of my friends have much better musical taste than other people from my school...

I've only really recently been getting into great bands - my knowledge is limited, but I am ever learning.

ACDC, The Animals, The Beatles, Ben Harper, Black Sabbath, Cream, Dave Brubeck, Donavon Frankenreiter, The Doors, Eric Clapton, Eurythmics, Guns N' Roses, INXS, Jack Johnson, Jet, Jethro Tull, Joe Satriani, John Butler Trio, John Lennon, John Mayall, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Midnight Oil, Nirvana, Pete Murray, Pink Floyd, Powderfinger, Rage Against The Machine, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, Traveling Wilburys, Van Halen, Velvet Revolver, The Waifs, The Who, ZZ Top

(that's my current listening list...)

I think that Metallica, Powderfinger, and Velvet Revolver really cut it as new bands. John Butler Trio is a really great blues band - definitely worth a listen.

Jet are okay, but I think they rip off all the other bands WAY too much.

By the way, I'm from Australia :)

Love your posts so far broady, such enthusiasm. You're definitely listening to some quality/classic stuff.....I really think you'll dig U2 if you can get a hold of some of their stuff.....lots of Beatles fans love U2 to death and vice versa...

But then again you're Zep Fan, not Beatle Fan.  I hate U2 too.  Broady nice taste in music.  looks generally the same as mine.  Good work ;D

Thanks guys.

I dont really like U2 at all

I lean more to the Metal side of rock with the added ballads - hence Metallica.

I've got their album - it's a bit patchy, but the good tracks are VERY good!

What killed rock

1.  Business (Record Companies, RIAA, Money, Greed, Commercialism, Sell-outs)

2.  Boy Bands and Teen sluts (basically, "artists" willing to give in to #1)

3.  Drugs (as much as they helped musical creativity, their destructive effect cannot be ignored, think of all the brilliant people who we lost before their prime)

4.  MP3 (good way to store music, but in my eyes it is the beginning of the end of the Album as an art form)

5.  Wal-Mart/Best Buy (The record store is a beautiful place, but becoming much more rare.  I have to drive 60 miles just to buy any LP's)

I actually love the album that 'Jet' put out and thats rare for me to enjoy one of todays newer bands. Not saying that its great, but I really dug it.

I liked Metallica better when they were pure heavy metal. Their newer album sounds more NU Metal-ish than heavy.

Jet seems alright.  They need some guitar solos though.

Metallica are still good. St Anger is just sh*t, that's all. It's a pity.

...hm. I'd say "drugs!", but then again...that's a two way street in rock. Drugs've really fscked up in the end, but they've helped to get people creating bloody amazing stuff. Yeah.

Mark David Chapman, definately. It's like, he killed John and in turn, that killed a part of music from 1981 onward, y'know. MTV, the prefabricated stars, rap, some REALLY crap music that apparently, people liked...that all really started to like, file in or something.

And it's really, really sad that a song that was basically a pretty-boy sayin' "yeah" with a few backup singers,  the same, dull bassline a computerized drum...thingy..., and a short few lines of actual lyrics was #1 for 19 weeks. Incredibly sad. Sucks that this is part of what my generation'll be remembered for. =\
