Hi folks,

I just wanted to give everybody a heads up that on a site called

This site looks excellent - and the download is free! I have these tracks already, but I've certainly bookmarked it for the future!

Thanks :D

What a strange offering on a site devoted to unreleased Beatles. The Beatles' Anthology sets rendered the Sessions album (in most guises) redundant!

Here is a more interesting offering I came across recently: the "lost" Beatles single:

http://www.geocities.com/unbaggage

Sour Milk Sea is a great blend of George's Kinfauns demo and the George-produced Jackie Lomax recording. Basically it seems to be George's demo added to the Lomax recording with Lomax's vocals removed. Whoever did this mix has given us a great track!

Can You Take Me Back is the longest mix of this McCartney/Beatles ditty that I've heard. Very nicely done.

wow, that website is awesome, but I think some songs are the same as in the anthology, am I right?? I'm listening to 'Come and get it' and it sounds exactly like the anthology 3 version.

edit: they are definitely featured in the anthology albums (most of the songs) except for christmas time and a few others

Yeah you are right - see Maria's post above. Those tracks were chosen for release as The Beatles "Sessions", and also included the release of a single - "Leave My Kitten Alone". The album was scrapped when John died. The tracks are pretty much the same as the ones on Anthology.

I'm hoping that all those other titles listed will be available for download soon! That's why I bookmarked the site! :D

Both for http://www.unreleasedbeatles.com

and http://www.geocities.com/unbaggage

OK, not as hip as I like to think I am.

What is 'bump'??
Title: Re: UnreleasedBeatles.com
Post by: on April 17, 2004, 07:23:08 AM
It's "bump" in the sense of "bumping the thread to the top of the list".

It's done to keep a thread fresh. In this case, people who may have missed the links earlier on get a chance to see them.

Both links are interesting for Phab Phans.

Another bump for unreleasedbeatles.com

Unicorn's Acetate Collection, and Yellow Dog's Acetates (single CD version, YD09) are available for download.

But the BIG news is that this great fan says he's putting up Purple Chick's Upgraded Complete BBC Sessions next!!

Apart from a Russian site I know of, this is the best bootleg download site around at the moment. I hope his bandwidth survives!

I feel bad downloading bootlegged Beatles songs.  However if they won't release them officially on their own then I have no choice.  I do the exact same thing with the Zeppelin.

Brilliant, thanks Bruno! I just figured out the problem - I was looking at a cached page, I've now got the updated home page!

This really is a GREAT site! I don't feel guilty about it at all - I'm not taking anything from the Beatles; just the bootleggers - and after all these years THEY owe me for all the money I've spent! ;)

So I just made a new one.  This one I'll remember.  And the notation was excellent, told me everything I needed to know.

at another forum broad he said he was having problems will i went there and this is what he had to say

Sorry Paolo,

I've got the disc space to leave them up, it's just the wanton bandwidth use that I'm trying to discourage...

I've got a tremendous amount of visitors that consume 300-400 MB's per session. I don't understand this since I've never even had more than a fraction of that up at once...

Must be that folks are just playing the songs all day over and over again from the site...

With 1k- 1500 visitors a day, this get's expensive, fast.

The more I have up there the more I seem to attract these folks...I want to make sure I've got enough bandwidth for everyone!

UB

that was a few days agian to tell you the turth i don't even know what bandwidth is all i know is you got to pay the guy now.

Post by: Bruno on May 14, 2004, 05:00:15 AM
I agree with Maria, this site all of the sudden seems a lil bit fishy.

I knew this was going to eventually happen though, I mean, if you have unreleased material from the most popular music band in the world chances are that you're going to have a lot of traffic in your website, and yes, bandwitdh it's not free and it can become expensive.
But I think Maria made a good point; the guy running the site should offer only one album per week (he started that way, remember?) and of course, compressing the files will help save bandwith too.

Just look at the site, they have:

Complete BBC Sessions Upgraded 3
Complete BBC Sessions Upgraded 4
Get Back Journals II 1
Get Back Journals II 2
Lost Pepperland Reel
Complete BBC Sessions Upgraded 1
Complete BBC Sessions Upgraded 2
Strawberry Lane

that makes a total of eight albums full of tracks!!... no wonder the guy is having problems!!

I hope the guy running the site can solve the problem and maintain it free :(

I truly hope this wasn't a scam! Perhaps offering all these goodies absolutely free really IS costing him money! It was good while it lasted and certainly saved me a lot of money, but now the the choice is ours - say thank you and goodnight or pay up and enjoy the rest of the downloads.

I must admit I am VERY tempted to pay, seeing as Beatles' bootleg CDs cost over ?15 in the UK (aprox $30)! I'll wait and see what his next move is though!!! ;D

There is no guarantee he will keep uploading material after you have paid. He may not even send you a password!

I wouldn't carry out any transactions at all with someone who gives as his only contact "unreleasedbeatles@yahoo.com". That's far too anonymous.

I was half-way through downloading the Strawberry Lane album before they started this pay-pal stuff.  I would have been done already if I was still at school, but Finals were over a week ago.  I had high-speed internet in my dorm room, but here at home I have slow dial-up internet.  I really want the rest of that stuff before it is gone, but Maria makes a very good point.  Well, more than one.  I am a pretty skeptical person myself, but my fiance wants us to buy a subscription.  Yes, it is cheap for all the music we'll get, but how do we know he isnt just a big liar and its all stuff we could actually find somewhere else if we looked hard enough?  I say we set out on a search on the internet to find more sites like this, only ones that are free - or at least trustworthy enough to contribute to.  I'm still confused though as to wether or not I should go ahead and buy this.  Has anyone bought a subscription yet?  If so, has he been true to his word so far?
Title: Re: UnreleasedBeatles.com
Post by: The End on May 15, 2004, 05:31:01 PM
Yeah, very good advice, Maria. It might be worth just buying a monthly subscription, that way you're not going to lose too much money if it is a rip off.

For those who are not aware of it, the biggest free music collection still available are the alt.binary newsgroups.

With a program like X-News (free) it will decode the files automatically and you can download to your hearts content.
Title: Re: UnreleasedBeatles.com
Post by: on May 15, 2004, 09:25:38 PM
Good point, Mr Charles. If you're new to "beatlegs", alt.binaries are good. As you say, free sites are getting thin.

There really is no need to risk (and it is a risk) giving your money to a complete stranger.

Is this site you speak of legal?  Or is it like Kazaa and all the others?
Title: Re: UnreleasedBeatles.com
Post by: on May 19, 2004, 04:25:01 PM
Usenet groups are as ancient as the net itself.  They are what they say: basic bulletin boards to exchange news and ideas.  Over time new groups were created for almost every facet of human interaction (yes, including "erotica").  The binary groups are not news posts per se but uploaded files, split into pieces that need a decoder to download and decode.

Yes, they are entirely legal.  At this time.  RIAA seems to not know or care about them, so it's best to not advertise them too much.  But pictures were always disseminated this way, and mp3's and avi's are now as well.

There are freeware decoder programs (X-News which I use but is not the easiest in the world to use...I still don't know 80% of what the heck it does), check download sites.

If you have a newsreader and a newsserver, sure:

alt.binaries.beatles
alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.beatles

A lot of duplication but that's ok.

NEWSSERVER: Teranews.com allows 50 MB free each day after a $3.95 setup fee.

The subscription has changed though (did anyone else notice that?) - the minimum is now 3 months instead of 1 month.

I don't think you can pay by credit card - I tried but couldn't fathom it out! I paid via my Pay Pal account - you just enter in the Unreleased Beatles email address (remember to suppy YOUR email address or you wont get the password!) and they do the rest.

Some GREAT downloads this week too! ;D
Title: Re: UnreleasedBeatles.com
Post by: on May 25, 2004, 03:36:26 AM
Thanks End. Sorry about having to go to a bandwidth surcharge, but bandwidth consumption was getting way out of hand and doubling every week. To give you an idea, I had 15% (20GB's) of my daily bandwidth going to (only) several points in Japan. I had HUNDREDS of people who were using 300-500 GB's a day. They must have been playing the music from the site all day, over and over again. I had MP3 search engines who were sending me thousands of downloaders a day, and on and on...

Bandwidth consumption was really preventing me from going to where I wanted to go with the site. Now I can put a lot of material up (an interesting selection of "core" beatlegs) instead of 1 or 2 albums. If I was a beatleg visitor, I'd much rather pay a small bandwidth surcharge and have access to several new "core" albums a week, than pay nothing and only have access to 1 or 2. The amount of money we're talking about is less than what you would pay for postage alone if you were to do a trade(assuming you could find the material) and the "trade" at Unreleasedbeatles.com is done instantly instead of having to wait several weeks, hoping your counterpart actually sends you the quality product they've committed to. The site is a lot faster and more stable for those that have supported it, which seems only fair to me.

My goal is to provide the best and most "core" beatlegs to new and intermediate collectors in an organized, expediant and inexpensive way. It's a shame that some of the best Beatles material has to remain under lock and key, gathering dust on vault shelves when there are so many people that really want to appreciate it.

Thanks,
UB

Hi UB!

Thanks for the info - but more importantly, thanks for Unreleased Beatles.com!

One SMALL question... what happened to track 21 on Get Back Journals 4? It's not there! ;D

Keep up the brilliant work - it's much appreciated, and I agree, VERY good value for money.

Cheers
AL :)

Hi End,

A heads up that on Sunday or Monday I'll be posting Upgraded BBC 2004. This is all the best off of Great Dane, Upgraded BBC and the recent YD release: Sounds like the authoritative issue of the BBC's!
