Music That Influinced The Beatles

Does anyone else here listen to the music that influenced The Beatles early in their careers?  I like listening to Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles, Eddie Cochran, lonnie Donnigan and Johnny Cash.  Anyone else here like these guys and others that The Beatles where listening too?

That's a good question. They seemed to like to cover alot of the black vocal groups and Carl Perkins, then 'Beatles' was an offshoot of the Crickets and most of you know how huge a Buddy Holly fan Macca is, he owns the rights to his catalog. I like alot of the early covers they did because songs like 'Chains' and 'Baby Its You' were just modest hits for others, they didn't necessarily go for covering the Number 1s of the day.

I like all of those girl groups. My mom loves Elvis, I think he's okay but I lot of his songs are too... croony. :-/ But I'm weird.

What about Bob Dylan? I love him.

i kind of favor them as the male surpremes.because of the three part harmonies.and the strong lead vocals.the did alot of great trioing..lol this boy is my fave.
i am kind of sorry they never stuck with the call and response type of song.like they did with hey,hey,hey and shout.
i love thier medleys too.

i never understood georges or johns enchantment with mr zimmerman.i am sorry i just don't see it.
i do love zappas references to bob in different tunes tho....

I appreciate his contribution but just could never get into him. He has such a huge volume of music out there though and I can't say I've heard everything he's done, so my opinion probably doesn't count for much.

Thats a great shout PC..I have often thought that. They capitalised on their great vocal range, wheras a lot of bands don't possess that vocal power. ;)
