I don't compare either... To me, Page is heavy metal guitarist while David Gilmour is more mellow and melodic...

And Sandra, there is a reason why Page is indoctrinated as the greatest thing ever  ;) But it looks like you're wrong anyway at the moment...

David Gilmour

David may not have had the flash but he inflected more emotion in his playing than any other guitarist of his generation, at least that's how I feel.

I think David is more of a craftsman when it comes to his style of guitaring and Jimmy is more of a true rock guitarist. Since I like what he has done in the YardBirds and Zep I preffer Jimmy as a "rock" guitarist.

when you think bout it it's pretty hard to compare the two.

i have to go with page though because he just rocked. however, don't think that i feel gilmour is not a competent guitarist. he played with great emotion and feeling and his timing and feel for the music will always be unparallel.

Page didn't steal riffs... Plant stole lyrics from old blues songs... Big difference... The only riff you can truely say Page stole was Spirit's Taurus for Stairway To Heaven... I don't think I've heard any other "stealings"...

And why are you bashing Page if you're a so called "Zep_Fan," Crazy?

Jimmy's catching up fast! He's much more popular a guitarist don't you think? I mean, he's always in the top 5. Gilmour would be like 37 or something. Wonder what the judging standards are? Eddie Van Halen is always up there too and I think his solo's lack the soul of Gilmours. But what do I know!

I voted Jimmy.  I love Daves work a ton, but how can you listen to Dazed and Cnfused, Stairway to heaven, and Achilles Last Stand and not be amazed.
