Please Please Me vs. Let It Be
« on: May 31, 2008, 08:57:21 PM »

Just curious. I wanna know what the public thinks. I mean, Please Please Me is fun. It has harmonica on it! But Let It Be is just kinda relaxing, cool, and laid back-like.

'Let It Be' is a far superior tune, but I like to hear 'Please Please Me' more as I rarely hear it anymore.

Difficult to deem one or the other as 'better' - but I feel better when listening to 'PPM'. May be the tempo and overall energy, I suppose. But, really, it's apples and oranges to me. So different, those two.

"Let It Be" is a much more accomplished tune, but "Please Please Me" has the advantage in energy. Like Klang says, it's apples and oranges really.  :)

Yes, very different types of songs.  But I would go with Please Please Me.

I think Please Please Me is a very upbeat, energetic song whereas Let It Be is rather depressing. As it should be considering The Beatles partnership ended by then. Therefore I prefer Please Please Me.

HAHHAHA! I guess we should have caught that being that this is in the album section of the forum!

I still go with Please Please Me....It is my favorite Beatle album.

Albums compared or songs, in a way I think about them the same way.

Let it Be is a finely crafted album (at best), appealing to the analytical left brain. PPM just reaches out and grabs the listener viscerally, hitting them before they know what happened ... a pure right brain phenomena.

Just my two cents!

Oh, it's about the albums. I should have realized that.

I stick to my earlier thoughts, the album Let It Be as a whole is depressing to me. This is not surprising as the sessions were considered the 'most miserable sessions on earth' by Lennon.
I think the raw energy of Please Please Me is infectious. A truly super debut album.

Let It Be has a few standout songs, but Please Please Me is more of a consistent album, I think.

Why this question? Because they were both #2 hits? LOL
...because this is apples and oranges really... Anyway, I would say "Let it Be", without a doubt.

I really enjoy listening to Please Please Me more then Let it Be, but the thing is they didn't write almost half the songs on please please me. So I have to go with Let it Be just because it is all them.
