Hi Greenapple. Very persuasive arguement. Leaders of the free world are elected - by us. We could vote them out, put The Greens in, but we don't.

Well spoken, BP. True Biscuit Power! I'm heartened by your mentioning of standing up for something. Kevin is a cynic, but with a heart I'm sure! I don't know Wayne much, but...

I don't think it was well spoken of me and I'm sorry you all had to read that, I don't like to bring myself down to that level, but we're dealing with someone here that doesn't seem to understand any other kind of language.

I've asked Wayne numerous times to quit making comments like that because I find them offensive, and he just keeps added fuel to the fire. Enough is enough.

We were crossing each other. I think we've made our positions clear and must be boring the tits off everyone else. Has been a pleasure. Back to The Beatles?

You're right, it's not 'well' spoken. But you are right about it.

Quote
(By Green Apple) But, I would never apologise to anyone in the world for saying that the leaders of the wealthy nations are genocidalists by neglect. As far as I know, nobody else has ever said this. They may well have, but it's an angle which I would use if I had any power or influence in the world whatsoever. I would love to stab the soft white underbelly of the establishment to expose the falsehood of their smug assertion of enlightened representation.

I could never accept your apology for that!!! lol ;)

The thing is, the balance of positive, daily existence lies somewhere in between these views that have been talked about.

E.g. To be aware can be scarily depressing and disturbing for some. To be ignorant is maybe to preserve a sense of as Kevin said....Optimism. Although to promote ignorance and distraction is the job of 'leaders.'
I know that you are optimistic Green Apple in the cause but there underlies an inevitable sadness that it may be too late. I can only hope not and still smile at the world.

It's All too Much for me. It certainly preys on my mind.

I didn't know that you are Establishment, if that's what you mean!

Anyway, I'm really thinking of those who hold POWER in the Establishment.

You say; 'To be aware can be scarily depressing and disturbing for some.'

You are absolutely right. And, I've probably let it play on my mind too much.

I have an inevitable sadness. At least as far as the environment is concerned, I think even now we can kiss goodbye to many good things regarding that. I saw a news article on the web this year which said we would have to act now to save the world. It's not happening, is it? More depressingly, a teletext report on the box this morning said Africa will get drier because of global warming. The people of Africa just do not deserve it! So terribly sad for them. And us.

I suppose Kevin is right to take the p*** out of it, really. It's a good mechanism for dealing with it I guess.

Well, I'm also chatting right now in a dating website to a lady, and her profile says:

She's right, right?

Anyway, I think - 'back to Paul' - Jenny Wren is one of Paul's finest songs ever. If he were to perform it live with Blackbird following immediately and seamlessly, it would work just fine I'm sure!

I just gotta listen to that song!

Oh, and about the topic subject:

To be totally honest, I don't entirely agree with Paul's decision. Of course I agree with him that this is something unacceptable, but people are unacceptably cruel to animals in every country of the world. If Paul would boycot every country where they make foie gras for instance, it'd be pretty hard to do another world tour.

If anyone doesn't know how they make foie gras: they stick a metal tube down a goose's throat and force-feed it almost until it snaps. Because over this overfeeding it gets sick and it's liver starts to swell. And this swollen liver is a delicacy that you can get in expensive restaurants as foie gras (fat liver) in almost every country in the "civilized" western world.

I didn't know that you are Establishment, if that's what you mean!

I am neither. lol. Just one of my general cynical sweeping statements. I am despondant. That's is another, long story. lol

I suppose Kevin is right to take the p*** out of it, really. It's a good mechanism for dealing with it I guess.

I know Kevin's a Kiwi but it's the English/British way. lol

She's right if you don't like regrets or what if's. She's wrong if she's has psycho, obsessive tendencies!!! lol.

Would John have performed in China?

Hmmmm...I guess, probably not. I'd like to think that if dear John were still with us, in his latter years, after all the razzamatazz is all over, he'd be even more into social protest. People really did listen to him. I'd like to think he could make chartable songs in his old age which really got people thinking and acting. Standing alongside Geldof, Bono, Midge Ure, but adding real power and drive to the whole mission! Wow!
