Tina Turner
« on: March 25, 2006, 04:58:45 AM »

I think she is just an awesome lady, and what a voice on her! Also, will I get yelled at for saying that I like her version of Honky Tonk Woman better than the orginal?

rumor has it that ike would never buy her anything fancy...so she pressed her face against the windows to look in at what she wasn't getting...doing that for hours is bound to have some effect....either that or the doctor stepped on her head to pull her tail off....

Don't you be badmouthing my fellow Tennessean (Annie Mae Bullock hails from Nutbush, TN), or I will get Ike after you!

I know everybody hates Ike, but you do have to give him credit for the Rhythm Kings, his Sun Records recordings and his work with Tina.

But, no way is their version of Honky Tonk Women better than the Stones.  That's Keith's finest hour (or three minutes).  I will say that their "Proud Mary" is equal in greatness to CCR's--a great arrangement--thanks to Ike.

The problem with Tina is that she only has one voice--screaming.  She can't do a whole lot more.  Subtlety ain't her bag.
