Woops, five is not enough. Instead of making lists, I should go play some of his songs.

Okay... let's say "Sue Me, Sue You Blues," "Wah Wah," "Cheer Down," "Pure Smokey," and George's cover of "If Not For You."  Five favorite solo album tracks.
Title: Re: Top five George songs
Post by: harihead on May 23, 2008, 11:12:03 AM
Except "Cheer Down" is no longer available on album, Wah-wah!!!!

I do love that song. I can never do these lists because I can never pick just a few "bests". It completely depends on my mood.

ATMP:
What Is Life
Let It Down
Run Of The Mill
Beware of Darkness
Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)
Hear Me Lord

LMW:
Sue Me, Sue You Blues
Don't Let Me Wait Too Long
Who Can See It
Be Here Now
Try Some Buy Some
The Day The World Gets 'Round
That Is All

Trying to restrain myself... random...
Dark Horse
This Song
All Those Years Ago
Poor Little Girl
Cheer Down

GH:
Not Guilty
Soft-Hearted Hana
Blow Away
Faster

That's The Way It Goes
Greece
Gone Troppo
Mystical One
Circles

Cloud 9
That's What It Takes
Fish On The Sand
Just For Today
This Is Love
When We Was Fab
Devil's Radio
Shanghai Surprise (really!)

"P2 Vatican Blues (Last Saturday Night)"
"Pisces Fish"
"Looking For My Life"
"Rising Sun"
"Marwa Blues"
"Stuck Inside a Cloud"
"Run So Far"
"Brainwashed"

TW:
"Handle with Care"
"Heading for the Light"
"Inside Out"
"Wilbury Twist"
Maxine

That's just first blush. No doubt I'll want to go back and add some more after I listen to these again...

I couldn't even do a top 20, let alone a top 5. And this is without any of his Beatles songs...

You know, it's got a really great arrangement and some very clever lyrics. I've never seen the movie (which may be why I like the song still), but it unfolds the story (or so I imagine) in such a fun, artistic way. And I do love story songs.

It's the movie connection that does it in, of course. On its own it's a good pop song, I think.  :)
