I've been listening to a lot of Bowie lately. Love Changes and a lot of his early stuff. Can't stand the 80's stuff though. Ziggy Stardust is great.

How about the one he did with John? Fame was it? Anyone like it? I hate the one he did with Queen.

Speaking of Bowie, here's a picture of him when he was young. Just spotted after leaving a teen gay bar.

Yeah, Bowie's got a lot of great songs. Great writer. I can't stop listening to Ziggy Stardust!! Space Oddity, Starman, Soul Love, The Man Who Sold the World(love Nirvana's version too) etc, are all GREAT songs! His voice and image are very unique. That's about as far as I get when caring about his life. Whatever he does or has done in his private life doesn't effect the music for me.

I think if we went around digging up junk on all of these guys, all of a sudden Bowie would seem normal. And the only reason we know so much about Bowie is because he was open about stuff. Townshend once said that if he told about all the famous men that wanted to sleep with him people would be shocked. And that's Pete Townshend! Not known for being a looker you know. ;D

PS
Hammond, obviously you've been brain washed into what to think about Americans. We're all different you know so don't just generalize. And TK was only making a joke. I'm sure he didn't mean to offend you. We don't know who that guy is or how much he may mean to you. Maybe you could tell us.

 ::)  Here we go again...

Anyway, anyone know how Bowie's doing these days? His health wasn't too good there for a while I think.
The Shreck version is aweful. The girl singing is annoying. Bowie sounds okay, but they changed the whole feel of the song. But hey, at least little kids are getting exposed to great music!

When and why did he pretend to be Hitler? What's the story cuz I have no idea. And was it just some promotional thing?

Okay, I just read about it. It seems it was one of his many personas. He seems to explore and dabble in a lot of different things. They guy is a buddhist. Very non-violent. I think he does these things to shock people. Like announcing he was gay in 1973 and then in the early '80's saying he's giving it up. He's sort of an avant garde artist. I wouldn't take anything he does so seriously. Think about Lennon and how he tried to shock people with outrageous statements and movements. (and Yoko) I don't know. That's my perspective on it after reading about the guy. He's odd though that's for sure. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion of him by the way. Just stating what I think. Which of course could be wrong since I didn't research everything out there.

You're right. The thing is, Bowie actually admitted that it was John who inspired him. Remember when John first found Dylan? He'd dress like Dylan and only play his music, till he kind of understood how it worked. Bowie's transformations also worked that way..
