I like John's voice, but I don't think he is a "good" singer. Paul is the best singer in the Beatles, he has the best voice. Even though I prefer George's.

I like his voice better than Freddie Mercury's but Freddie is ,obviously, a better singer. That guy can hit octaves that some girls can't even hit.

Jason Mraz is actaully a very good singer. People don't know a lot about him, or know very little and roll him out. But he is one of the smoothest, talented singers to come out in the past 10 year.s He needs more credit for his voice.

People, please don't forget Stevie Wonder. The quality of his voice, his performances, his register, all amazing...

I just love the fact that the person on the cover of Rolling Stone with the headline: 100 GREATEST SINGERS OF ALL TIME is BOB DYLAN! That's just great. Someone's having a little fun over there I think.  ;D

Apparently though there are alternate covers. I only saw this one. There's a Lennon one out there somewhere. Damn, now I may have to buy this issue twice!! They show all the covers on the inside though. Lennon recording Imagine is the pic on his cover. Dylan's from '65 looking very introspective and awesome. Elvis is doing the foot thing that Paul imitates in Hello Goodbye. Not into that cover or the Aretha one. :-/

From Rolling Stone:
AC/DC step aside to make way for Aretha Franklin, the top-ranked vocalist in Rolling Stone

What a crap list Karen Carpenter # 94 and Lou Reed #62 , i like Lou but a great singer he is not .
And Dusty should be higher than # 35 , she's a better singer than Tina Turner who's at #17.
And where is Ringo he's also better singer than Lou Reed ?

They have Whitney Houston (#34) ahead of... let's see... Curtis Mayfield, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, David Ruffin, and Wilson Pickett. They're f***ed.

Bjork? That's ridiculous. She's the new Yoko Ono.

Did anyone else notice that there was one very conspicuous person missing from the top 100 singers list?  That person being.... Madonna!

I'm not in disagreement here, but I figured Madonna would get a nod in there somewhere, even if she was ranked in the 70s or lower.

Somehow Mariah Carey got ranked, and Esther didn't?......

I have a feeling Madge p*ssed off Jann Wenner at some point.

well, Madonna isn't a great vocalist... though that shouldn't make a difference considering some of the people they have in there.
