It is their best video. And it has more in it than at first glance. The video images follow the acutal lyrics.
0:26-0:35 - although the news was rather SAD - well I just had to LAUGH - John is sad (or better to say, he has serious face) in contrast with girl smiling. Also, there is Paul laughing at: 0:32-0:33.
0:39-0:43 I SAW the photograph... - At 0:39, George looks and goes very close to the camera.
0:51 - 0:55 he didn't notice that the LIGHTS were changed... - a closeup of an eye (for 'NOTICE' - you notice things mostly with your eyes), and then changing the lights in the studio.
0:57 - 1:01 - a crowd of people stood and stare - camera shows people in sthe studio standing (and looking at the camera - so, there you have 'staring').
1:11 - 1:17 - I saw a FILM today, oh boy - John (and others) have a film camera in their hands.
1:18 - 1:23 - the English army had just won the war - children RUNNING with guns in their hands, one of them falls to the ground. Also, a shot of policemen in the street. There is no way that this footage is put accidentally with those lines about war. Plus, the footage is of different colour than the rest of the video (a reference to old times when they had black&white photos and footage,)
1:24 - 1:29 - a crowd of people TURN AWAY - girls being escorted out of the set (I assume, this is staged).
1:30 - 1:33 - but I just had to LOOK - a shot of the eye.
2:16 - 2:20- before the lines 'Woke up, fell out of bed' there is a shot of Big Ben and the camera shakes whis looks to viewers as an earthquake - which all, actually, represents the Big Ben as an 'alarm clock' (we hear the alarm clock in the song. Next, Paul is shown in the shot - and that is his par of the song (his lyrics!).
2:28 - find my way DOWNSTAIRS and drank a cup - camera shot from UP angle to DOWNSTAIRS (at the musicians) - bird's eye perspective.
2:32 - 2:34 - and LOOKING UP I noticed I was late - a shot of the eye. Aslo, man looking at the camera.
2:36 - 2:38 - found my coat and grabbed my HAT - a shot of man, next to Paul with something on his head.
2:38 - 2:42 - made the bus in SECONDS FLAT - first, a slow-motin shot of RIngo, then a fast movement of camera in slo-mo.
2:42 - 2:46 - find my way UPSTAIRS - a shot of musicians from up.
2:46 - 3:18 - somebody spoke and I went to a DREAM - could represent a dreaming sequence.
3:37 - 3:38 - not a reference to lyrics, but there is a zoom to woman's chest (that is, to the glittery blouse she's wearing). Also, At 3:38 ther is a shot of a musician with a
big, funny fake nose. Could be a funny sexual reference.
3:44 - 3:48 I'd love to TURN YOU ON - a woman turning around.
4:39 4:01 - a record being played. I think it reads 'Donovan', Probably a dedication to music - people then listened music either on radio or on the records.
3:50 - 4:10 a fast movement of the camera, which follows the musical cressendos.
4:22 - 5:12 - slow-motion 'follows' the final chord.
