why were they worthy of a beatles penned tune?
-
Because 'Of Cabbages and Kings' is very underrated and that album alone deems them worthy.
-
They had seven US hits in two years. Why would they not be worthy? Wasn't it done by Billy J. Kramer first? So written for him, and not Chad & Jeremy.

so you know for a FACT it was written special for billy then???you have stated this so it is your contention??
that it was written for him not just a song they wrote which was given to him to record but was written for HIM!!
hhhmmm.....we shall see...

Blimey, what prompted that? :-/

i was just trying to phathom why you would contend it was wrote for him when even george martin did not want to produce him,so why would l and m write him a song..
It's been reported that George Martin was reluctant to produce Kramer because of the latter's vocal deficiencies, making sure to hide the cracks in his upper register with loud piano notes in Billy's cover of "Do You Want to Know a Secret." No matter -- the song made it to #2 in the UK in mid-1963, followed by another Lennon-McCartney effort, "Bad to Me." "I'll Keep You Satisfied" and "From a Window" were other gifts from the Beatles camp that gave Kramer solid hits; one Beatle reject, "I'll Be on My Way," was even relegated to a B-side (the Beatles' own BBC version was finally released in 1994). All these tunes, it should be noted, represented Lennon-McCartney at their lightest and most facile, which to a large degree explains why they didn't record the numbers for their own releases, deeming them more suitable for Kramer's fairly bland approach.

I was just suggesting that they were merely doing a cover. I don't know if it was specifically written for Bill J Kramer, and I don't really care. Why do you want to make such a thing out of it? Feeling pedantic today?
-
i find it pretentious is all...Billy was given a series of songs specially written for him by John Lennon and Paul McCartney which launched him into stardom. I'll Keep You Satisfied, From A Window, I Call Your Name and Bad to Me all became international million sellers for Billy...
i see this statment alot but still think it is inncorrect...

not really i am discussing this with a few site owners and was wondering how they came to believe this and one has much the same stance as you...defiant and abrasive...but if you know it's a fact i said to him prove it to me...

Christ Marshall, it's a conversation on a forum. If you want an argument PM me!
Oh, I get it, it's 'Have A Pop At A Mod' day today. You've been quiet recently, and now you fancy a bit of trouble.

there is a book coming out disproving more than a few myths...trying to trace these things to their source is hell...i just thought maybe you had inside info...

no this is not it at all...if i looked at you as a beatles historian then i would be popping but i just want to know why you believe what you do concerning b j k and the tunes....
-
most sites claim especially for billy but i believe eppy was being heavy handed and requested it...it was not prompted by a beatle...http://billyjkramer.com/enter.html
i do believe that some of these sites only further premote the haze by copying off another,so that eventually something becomes accepted as fact when it is false...CAMPBELL CONNELLY & CO. LTD handled billys affairs i believe campbell is william campbell.....and he passed this along as fact...
just trying to slow misinformation down as well, let's step out of the box for a minute...look at this site http://onlinetalent.com/artists_50s_60s.php we can still book bo diddley but he is dead...... ;D
