Wish list? I havent really thought about, but i'll be buying another kit in a couple years. This would probably do.

It's the current incarnation of the Danelectro Coral Sitar, designed by Vinnie Bell, whose sound you're familiar with in 60s songs like Cry Like A Baby and Hooked On A Feeling. Jerry Jones makes the reissue Coral Sitar today.
I've posted the original and current versions below.

Hehe thanks! Its the one I always wanted and thought that its the one I want and that no one elses opinion should matter. Now I have to just go through the pain of waiting for it to get to my house! When will it end? Have you ever played a Ric bass?
-
I'm sure it'll get there soon. No, I don't play bass......but it's not too late to learn!

I'm so jealous :)
I've never played one before - but the ricky tone is lovely! You can really get that tinney punchy sound from it.
I'm having to do with a £10 Encore at the moment ..as my Fender Squire P is getting fixed.
Hopefully going to move up to a P Bass in the near future ..but the pennies need to be saved.

I'm still trying to learn to play my prima balalaika.

I'm primarily a guitar player so I own three acoustics (including a nylon string) and two electrics (one being a beginner the other being a red Epiphone Dot, I love that thing), but I also play bass ( I borrow it from a friend some times), keyboard/piano, drums (WITH a cowbell I might add...), and a few harmonica's so I can jam out some Dylan every once in a while or just some blues.

My Lenovo Thinkpad T500 with Audigy2ZS for triggering samples and simple practice recordings. Soundplant for samples and Reaper for recording. Assorted Shure microphones and a Samson C03 condenser I use as a room mic.

No, it certainly doesn't, Kirkwood!
Welcome to this forum!

Thanks for the greeting Hello Goodbye.
The Selmer Signet 100 is a good clarinet. I work on a couple a month and they hold up well and play test quite easily. I play tested a customer's Selmer Series 10 clarinet the other day after replacing 2 pads and it played effortlessly. Even though I don't play clarinet that much, I was jealous.

It's a nice clarinet and I've had it serviced regularly over the years. I'm way out of practice too.
Now, this guy could play the clarinet!

Hi everyone,
Starting playing guitar in 1958 (age 7)... at that time I had cherry red Les Paul jr. and a Gibson amp all for around $100. The Les Paul jr. was in the window at Skokie Music and was faded giving it a red-orange cast. But it's what I learned on, so it was an important piece.
Going forward on my 13th b-day in January 1964, I received a Gibson ES335. My dad traded in the Les Paul Jr for it.
The instruments I've had and still have:
0. Les Paul Jr. *
1. Gibson ES335 - 1964... sold it :-(
2. Hofner Violin bass, like Paul's, but right handed. 1967... sold it :-(
3 Gibson Les Paul Custom -cherry sunburst - 1970. sold it.
4. Fender Jazz bass. - 1975... sold it 1980.
5. Gibson Les Paul Custom tobacco sunburst - joined a Beatles tribute band... played rhythm guitar and keyboards... sang both John and Paul songs. 1980-1981.
6. Yamaha Snyth... forgot the model... it was the same one Stevie Wonder used, but mine was only 60 keys. 1980. sold it.
7. Kramer Bass - 1982... still have it.
8. Ovation Acoustic guitar
-
I am 13, so it isn't like I can go buy super nice instruments haha. Right now I have a Gibson Epihone, a off brand Acoustic (it's decent though lol) and a nice keyboard (not remembering the brand though) But my dream guitar(s) right now are a yellow Gibson Les Paul, Fender Strat, or a Sunburst Hummingbird with a pickup in it..
-

Besides a throwaway acoustic and electric guitar, and a sort of throwaway keyboard, my ownly other instrument is a Yamaha Motif Classic. I gig with it, and record. She is way more than I can handle, but she is a beaut!
I think I would like to have the newer Motif, but I don't need it for happiness. A decent recording studio with an engineer who knows what he is doing, now that I would die for!
-
My Cornet and Trumpet and Guitar are my pride and joys - love em - and playing stuff like Come Together on trumpet is amusing!

I used to be obsessed with Good Charlotte as a teen, so I got the Ernie Ball Benji Madden Signature guitar as a present.
http://firstguitarshop.co.uk/images/benji_greensp.jpg (http://firstguitarshop.co.uk/images/benji_greensp.jpg)
I also have a Tanglewood electro-acoustic, which is like this picture, except a lovely deep blue colour.

I also got a bass when I was 15, a Yamaha RBX170. This accompanied me all over the place when I was in my last band!

My fave guitar I own is my Ibanez Artcore. I bought it when I went to NYC when I was about 15. I went into a guitar store called Manny's Music, where loads of Rock & Roll guitarists had come in over the years, signed for their purchases and had their signatures put up on the wall. It was a great day.

Moving away from guitars, I've also got an Alesis electric drum kit. I did have an acoustic kit when I first started playing at the age of 16, but the neighbours complained so much, I was forced to trade it for an electric. *Sniff*

And finally, I have an M-Audio ProKeys Sono 88 MIDI keyboard, which unfortunately is the only thing resembling a proper piano I have. I had a beautiful upright piano from age 7 right up until a few weeks ago, but unfortunately my mother moved house and they couldn't get it out, so the new owners get it for free. Bad times.

Bloody hell Guruz...! That's impressive!
-
Hehehehe thank you! I was worse for buying/receiving guitars when I was younger. I haven't actually bought an instrument since I was about 15. I guess I just love my Ibanez so much, I don't have any desire to have any more guitars. Although I'd LOVE to have a go on a Rickenbacker 12 string... you know... just for the whole GEORGENESS of it. :D

-
Oh. I forgot. I also have a synthesizer gathering dust (not really, it is still in its box)…
-
Wow, so many people play/own guitars! Guess that shouldn't be surprising considering this is a Beatles site :)
In my house there are:
Baldwin Piano
Conn bb trumpet
2 acoustic guitars (One's my dad's, the other a little one which is mine. Just learning how to play :P )
-
Today I bought a T-Bone Retrotube MK I valve condenser mic from one of my college tutors who's downsizing his home studio. It's pretty neat! Here's a picture of it. I like its purposely "vintage" bottle shape: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may06/images/tboneretrotube.l.jpg (http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may06/images/tboneretrotube.l.jpg)

Nice one Jai...not used one of them but they are nice looking bits of kit for sure...Enjoy that valveness. Let me know how you get on with it. :)
-
I will certainly let you know how it sounds! I'm probably gonna use it on every bloody thing I record now. :P
xxx
-
In reference to my last post... I've just come to use this mic, and a flatmate who borrowed it has lost part of it, so now it doesn't screw onto any mic stand... I'm so fecking annoyed. I've been waiting for over a month to record the songs I've been writing, but technology has just been constantly going wrong. Now when I finally get my interface fixed, I can't use my mic, so now can't record my guitar. I'm absolutely FED UP.

Sorry to TRIPLE post, but no one ever replies here. :P
I just bought myself some tabla! They're gorgeous dark brown with a nice, flowing interpretation of a bird on the tops. I think I watched "Concert For Bangladesh" a bit to intensely lastnight. ;D
I can't wait to use them.

-
You watched Concert For Bangladesh ? OMG, i didn't know there was a dvd or somethin...xD
I have 2 folk guitars, but i can't remember their brand, they were cheap i guess, and 2 electric guitars: a fender stratocaster and a cheap one, westwood or something like that...
And i also have 3 or 4 pianos and some harmonicas ^^
-
You watched Concert For Bangladesh ? OMG, i didn't know there was a dvd or somethin...xD
Yes love, Concert For Bangladesh is on DVD! They brought it out in 2005. You can buy it on Amazon and places like that. ;)
I do love that they bothered to put things like that on DVD so that it's accessible for younger people who weren't around to see it happen. I love Ravi Shankar and Billy Preston's performances especially. Bob Dylan's pretty cool too.
Anyway, back to the topic! :-X

That's a bummer about the mic Jai. Have you contacted the manufacturer about a spare part at all? Get your flatmate on it or get the gaffer tape out! ;)
-
I got a B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar on Memorial Day, since the store was having this big sale on instruments. It's my first electric guitar, and I'm quite happy with it! (I just need to somehow get an amp, so I can hear how it really sounds :P )
I also have an acoustic guitar, but I don't know much about it. I just stole it from my older sister because she never played it at all, and I just began teaching myself.
Oh, and I have a ukulele too. :)
-

Ah no worries now AAB, I found the missing part! And the mic works a bloody treat, just like I knew it would. It's by no means the best out there, but by god does it knock the socks of anything I've produced before. ;D

I just got a drumset!
What did you get Dave?
-
I have been playing drums since I first heard the Let It Be album in 1974. I was 13 at the time.
Here's the set I have now. It's an off brand but gets the job done:
Ever since then I have wanted to be in a band. I am now, finally, forming my own Beatles Tribute band.
If you live in the LA area & can play bass guitar or lead guitar & can sing, here's your chance to be in a Beatles band.
If you are interested, please contact me @ dkforsythe@hotmail.com
All the best,
Darrin

What did you get Dave?
It's called an Igniter 5 piece set. It's a Tiawanese brand. It'll work fine for me. I traded for some houseware stuff I have in abundance I didn't want or need so no $ changed hands.

Hi Darrin. I dont think i've introduced myself formally. I'm Todd. Cool set. Looks like a Pearl copy from the hardware. Thats not a bad thing as I think they have the best hardware anyways. Wish I could hear you guys play sometime, but I live on the wrong coast.

I’ve never seen the Les Paul Junior before. Interesting that a US made Les Paul would be marketed at a lower price. I thought most cheaper Gibson and Fenders were made in Mexico.
-
Moog,The Les Paul Junior goes back to 1955. It's a no-frills stripped down version of The Les Paul Standard, similar to The Les Paul Studio, having only one pickup in the bridge position. Gibson decided to produce The Les Paul Junior Special P-90 nine years ago in ebony gloss solid mahogany and having two pickups and a bound Indian rosewood fingerboard. It was made in the United States and was offered for an introductory price of $629 which I felt was a great price for this instrument. As it came with a gig bag, I ordered a Gibson hardshell case at the same time from Sweetwater.
Gibson still offers a very similar guitar called The Les Paul Special which sells for $1,599
My Les Paul Junior Special P-90 is available in the used marketplace for about the same price as the new Les Paul Special. I remember the Sweetwater salesman back in 2012 telling me that I made a fine choice as he felt that Gibson would not offer the guitar much longer at its introductory price.

Lovely instrument. And that sounds like a great price.
I’ve seen those guitars before but never realised they were Les Paul Juniors. I thought they were just the early Les Pauls.
You learn something new every day.
-
At the time, I realized that I never owned a solid body electric guitar. I couldn't resist when I read this description on the Gibson website:
Les Paul Junior Special P-90
The Les Paul Junior has remained a no-nonsense favorite of rock ’n’ rollers ever since its introduction way back in 1954. This single-cutaway, slab-bodied electric guitar always has had a simplicity and affordability that has appealed to punk, blues, grunge and garage rockers, along with an impressive tonal depth and purity that has landed it in the hands of players in plenty of other genres as well. The original Junior and Special models were distinguished by their single and dual P-90s, respectively. Gibson’s original fat single-coil pickups have been favorites of countless tone-conscious players since their arrival on great Gibson archtops way back in 1946. Now with the Les Paul Junior Special P-90, Gibson USA combines the attributes of these two affordable classics in a two-pickup guitar that is equipped to take you everywhere that the best dual-P-90-loaded guitars of the past six decades were able to go. The Les Paul Junior Special P-90 is loaded with classic hardware, and finished in your choice of eight great vintage and contemporary finishes—Satin Cherry, Satin Ebony, Satin Vintage Burst, Satin Yellow, Gloss Yellow, Gloss Ebony, Tobacco Burst and Heritage Cherry, all in hand-sprayed nitrocellulose lacquer—representing an outstanding value in an astoundingly versatile electric guitar.
The Les Paul Junior Special P-90 pays respect to Gibson heritage and tradition through and through, while offering a handful of well-calculated upgrades to benefit the modern player. Just like the first Les Paul Junior built in Kalamazoo 58 years ago, the Les Paul Junior Special P-90 is made from solid mahogany. An archetypal tonewood used in countless classic Gibson electric guitars, mahogany has a sonic depth and richness that pulses through every note, yet always remains clear and articulate. The guitar’s neck is made from quarter-sawn mahogany, carved to a fast yet comfortable profile that measures .800” at the 1st fret and .875” at the 12th. The fingerboard is made from rich brown baked maple, a heat-treated hardwood that offers outstanding tone and excellent durability, as well as a traditional appearance. Beyond the PLEK-cut Corian™ nut, the headstock is adorned with gold silkscreened “Gibson” and “Les Paul Model” logos, and a two-ply black/white plastic truss-rod cover engraved with “Special.” In an upgrade of the original Juniors, the fingerboard carries stylish white binding, while the guitar wears a five-ply plastic pickguard in the image of the original two-pickup Les Paul Specials.
Taking you straight to the vintage tone zone, the Les Paul Junior Special P-90 carries two of Gibson USA’s extremely accurate recreations of the acclaimed P-90 pickup as built in the 1950s. Both are made with genuine Alnico V magnets for smooth overdriven tones that are nevertheless punchy and articulate, and capture that characteristic P-90 edge and bite, with fat lows and silky highs, and a signature midrange kick that cuts through any mix. For hardware, the Les Paul Junior Special P-90 packs the traditional set of Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece for superb sustain and resonance, with vintage-style pearloid-button tuners. Protected in a padded Gibson gigbag, with an owner’s manual and coverage from Gibson’s Limited Lifetime Warranty, as well as Gibson’s acclaimed 24/7/365 Customer Service, the Les Paul Junior Special with P-90s is one of the best values out there in a genuine Les Paul from Gibson USA.

So for myself I am taking the minimalist route as I am with all possessions.
I'm no longer interested in owning big houses full of the detrius of life. We now just have our apartment overlooking the ocean and as everyone knows apartments don't have that much space for storage.
I have reduced the number of instruments down to 2 one is my lovely Ovation acoustic and I'm putting together a nice precision bass guitar just in case I ever get the chance to play in a band again as a bass player.
Here is a picture of my Ovation.

Thanks, Kev.
That Ovation is gorgeous! I had the chance to play one several years ago. The rounded back made sure the sound coming out of the guitar's ornate sound holes was full.
Let us know which bass guitar you've selected. I've always liked your Hofner Union Jack Bass.

Lovely ovation Nim. Great colour. I always liked the look of the ovation acoustics but can’t recall actually playing one. Did have an ovation electric at one point which was a very nice guitar.

He does have black strings on his Hofner in that 1969 picture, Kev.

For years, I had trouble playing Question on my Guild JF30-12 but thanks to the internet, I learned that I had to use open-C tuning...

Not easy tuning all those strings to C
-
Kev, in open C tuning, the low E string is taken down two whole steps to C, the A string is tuned a whole step down to G, D will go one whole step down to C, G will stay the same, B is tuned up one half step to C, and the high E string stays the same...

For my Guild 12-string, the lower four pairs of strings are an octave apart.

Kev, this is open-C tuning for a 12-string guitar...
