Which DVD
« on: August 21, 2007, 08:52:17 AM »

I just got a 50 quid Amazon voucher from my brother for my birthday. So I thought I'd beef up my Beatles DVD collection. Am I right in thinking these are the only official releases:

Anthology
A Hard Day's Night
First US Visit
Yellow Submarine (deleted?)

I have the first two above, so I thought I'd get the First US Visit. Can anyone recommend anything else?

If you like George's music, the Concert for George is amazing. The show, the presentation of the songs, the mood, the extras-- everything is top notch,  moving and truly inspirational. Really one of the most brilliant music DVDs ever made.

Good luck! Enjoy!

I've had that since it came out. And Bangla Desh. I was thinking more in terms of Beatles rather than solo or related.

Thanks for the list. Must have taken all afternoon!! I'll look into them. I know their aren't many official releases, so it's good to have some of the unofficial stuff recommended. Some of it is dreadful. Don't worry about uploading anything. The files are way too big, and you can buy the unofficial stuff cheaply enough on Amazon Marketplace anyway.

I find 'Let it be' highly recommendable, dunno whether it's released yet.

The only movies that have been re-issued are A Hard Day's Night, and Yellow Submarine - which seems to have been deleted again.

You have to get Let It Be. I'm sure it's available somewhere. The First US Visit is awesome. I've watched it tons of times. Some unofficial ones I love are: Fun With the Fab Four (has the Pyramus and Thisbe sketch) and The Beatles Unauthorized (cool press conferences and stuff). And Lennon Legend is worth having if you love John's stuff. The bonus Imagine performance in the red leather and masks is almost worth the whole video.

so far in my DVD collection:

1) Hard Day's Night
2)Making of a Hard Days Night--Phil Collins host
3)First US Visit
4)Ed Sullivan presents The Beatles (a four hour dvd !! --the entire hr.-long episodes when the Beatles appeared on his show--including the tv commercials from '64-'65. Fantastic memorabilia) "a REALLY big shoe" :D :D
5)Magical Mystery Tour
6)Yellow Submarine
7)Compleat Beatles
8)The Concert For Bangla Desh
9)Anthology
10)The Magic Christian--Ringo
11)How I Won The War--John, 1966
12)Imagine--(the feature-length Warner Bros. documentary, NOT the original shorter John and Yoko film from 1971 (which I ALSO plan to get my grubby little hands on one fine day  ;)
13) The Madison Square Garden Concert--John Lennon & Friends (1972)(you've GOT to hear the version of "Mother" on here !!)
----------------
planning to get the HELP ! DVD AND The Concert For George in late Oct. or early Nov.

..and plan to get the Let It Be dvd WHEN I'M IN A BLOODY NURSING HOME!! (if I'm LUCKY !!  :D :D) (geeez...is that damn thing EVER coming out ??????)

The Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus may not be what you are looking for, but it's brilliant to see! Of course it's just John, but it's worth it.
