Do The Beatles influence the music you write?
« on: November 29, 2004, 11:45:41 PM »

This is for the musicians out there.  I voted yes, they very much influence the music I write (or try to write), I haven't actually ever finished a song, though.

A little bit, yes. I've also written some songs ABOUT the Beatles... many love songs about Paul ::)

Yes, they really do. Right now my musical "partner" and I are recording several demos, most of which, so far, are beatles tunes... Their musical tastes inspire me to broaden my horizons in my tastes and to attempt different, new and better styles of music; this as well as different effects and sounds in my recordings. I really thank them all for that. I'm even trying to write some folk stuff because of You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, I've Just Seen A Face, etc... :-)

A lot of times, I'll be listening to the Bealtes, then get a sudden erg to write a song, so, heh, yeah, a lot of what I write sounds a lot like some of the early stuff.
And the first like 10 songs I learned on guitar were Bealtes. :)

I voted a little - sometimes I just slip into that sort of style without realising it!

I think that it's almost impossible to make pop music without being influenced by the Beatles at all.

I think they influence my music a lot. Especially the melodies and the song structures. And they make me set my standards higher for myself.

Without shadow of a doubt.
Real instruments, real music, real vibe. Melody, harmony and rythm.
Their skill at being able to perform lots of genres but still be themselves and thread it together so seamlessly, continues to teach, inspire and permeate through me to this day.
Just wish I had Abbey Rd. Studios to record in. lol mmmm Ribbon Mics, reel to reels and Steinways and lots of space, engineer, George Martin etc, etc.....wish, wish....lol

Since I'm an aspiring lyricist with a bright future ahead of me in more ways than one I like to think of myself as the next John Lennon in my head when I'm writing.
