I usually keep myself out of the way from cover versions, but some I've stumbled across:

The Norwegian Pop Idol Sandra won singing a horrible version of Come Together - I've met kids who though she had written it!

I got some gospel jam version of Let it be somewhere - you can't really make out the song, though - it's mostly chanting and rythm, while someone wainly try to sing it in the back.

A little while ago I was in a music store, and (at first I didn't even notice) they were playing a cover version of Lucy In The Sky. I don't know who sang it, but it definately wasn't Elton John or William Shatner. It sounded like a female. The song wasn't too good though, the music was allright, but the vocals sounded very boring compared to Lennon... Totally didn't fit the mood of the song.

After that they also played a cover version of Across The Universe, which sounded OK, but I only heard it for a little while.

I HATE cover songs especially Aerosmith's Come Togher, horrific and it makes me mad to know it was almost as famous at the time as John's original version. On the other note I LOVE any beatles cover Wes Montegomery did, especailly  Eleanor Ribsy

I've heard Celene Dion doing two different John solo songs -- Beautiful Boy [for her calendar ... thingy ...] and Happy Xmas. It was pretty scary.

=P I'm like, the only one who actually likes Aerosmith's "Come Together", aren't I? Then again, this is the heavy influence of a friend who comes from an entire family of huuuuge Aerosmith fans.

I like Anne Murray just fine, but I can't imagine her trying to do a Beatles song.  :X

I dunno, you're right though - it's weird though isn't!

Another crap cover version was Candy Flip's interpretation of Strawberry Fields Forever! Dreadful!

Too numerous to mention, but here's a great site, devoted to really bad music and there's alot of horrendous Beatle covers. You will laugh and not just at the Beatles stuff. But Mae West doing 'Day Tripper', Mrs. Miller doing 'Hard Day's Night'. Scary stuff.

All time No one of worst covers: "Something" by Frank Sinatra - I like Ole Blue Eyes but he should stick to his sort of songs. Too late, I know.... ::)
