Silly Love Songs
« on: December 12, 2010, 08:22:32 PM »

I remember I read some months ago something about "Silly Love Songs" being Paul's worst song. I don't know, I love that song, I am just listening to it and it's think it's a fine song. Any opinions?

To me it kinda depends on how you listen to it.  Sometimes it's a fine song, peppy, so full of joy, other times it's like my ears will bleed if I hear the song one more time.  Just my two cents...

I always liked it. Paul was p*ssed off when he wrote it and used his brain on this one. They said he could only write Silly Love Songs and in turn, he wrote one that was a huge hit. Thats awesome to me.

aye, silly love songs is alright!nice bass line for a start, paul.if i have one criticism of the song,it's too long-long songs are fine, but they need to do more in the way of changes etc;before i do anything else here let me say i am not trying to preach on how to write a song!!it's always sounded bare to me as well, but on the whole, silly love songs is good!to say it's pauls' worst song is going a little too far.bogey music anyone? ;D

this song has it all
from its mechanical opening rhythm groove
devastating bassline
horns
strings
countermelody
.
.
c'mon man
did i mention the bassline ! !  :D :D :D :D :D
as far as the length and the simplicity the way it breaks down-  that may have been better to experience as an audience member at a live wings concert
regardless - this song is a monster !

It has a cracking bassline - regardless of what anyone thinks of it as a song, the bassline is absolutely superb. I'd put it alongside Goodnight Tonight as it's not a song that immediately jumps out as a great song, but look at the bassline of those and they are fantastic in their own right.
