'Struggle' sucks and I cant see myself buying this for 2 other songs that probably do too, no matter how much of a collector I am.  Sorry Paul.  I might pick it up in the bargain bin in a few years, but not now.

The funny thing is that although we salivate over the idea of unreleased Beatles material appearing, the fact that there is still some scope for future releases fifty years later still makes it interesting.

If the industry had put out definitive box sets of each Beatles LP one year after release, (1) Beatlemania would never have got off the ground and, (2) we wouldn't be as interested today.

Many years ago, unbeknown to the great British public, the BBC had an alarming policy of wiping episodes of old TV series.
'Dad's Army', 'Hancock', Peter Cook & Dudley Moore, 'The Likely Lads', 'Dr. Who' all suffered from this short-sighted policy. However, the irony is that those missing episodes have given many of those programmes even more of a mystique and created even more of an interest in them than there might otherwise have been.

Footnote: One of the things the Beeb wiped were The Beatles only live performances on 'Top Of The Pops' - 'Paperback Writer' and 'Rain' from a 1966 episode. Oh dear!

I was just discussing this very topic with another friend from England not too long ago. It was frustrating to me when I discovered that those performances were gone but it happened over on this side of the pond too. That's why the infamous Lennon and McCartney appearance on the Tonight Show in May of '68 exists only for our ears. I would like to see the looks on their faces throughout that mess but I guess this picture says a lot:

I've just seen the track listing for 'The Art of McCartney', a 2-cd various artists tribute type thing, only this isn't my type of thing at all!

Quick question:
Do any of these tribute type releases have a life after the initial two, or possibly, three spins?
I mean, are there avid Dylan fans out there who swear by the 30th Anniversary Tribute Concert and, as a consequence, it rarely leaves their turntable?!
Has anyone gone near the Various Artists 50th Anniversary recording of 'Please Please Me' LP in the last twelve months?
