I don't even listen to her Majesty because it ruins the end of the album, IMO.

Nice rant, but...

It's not on the album track list because it wasn't supposed to be.
[Her Majesty] originally wasn't supposed to even be on Abbey Road.
Well, actually, it was. It was supposed to be in between "Mean Mr. Mustard" and "Polythene Pam" as a part of the acclaimed Abbey Road Medley.

And what's with people saying that "Her Majesty" ruined Abbey Road, coz it means that "The End" is no longer the last song? I think they ruined that concept when Let It Be was brought out after Abbey Road.

Um, excuse me, mate, but you're missing the point. The point is that, regardless of whether or not "Her Majesty" was supposed to be on the album, and whether you like it or not, but it is - and on top of that, it closes the album. Not that I'd have it that way, personally. It should have stayed between "Mustard" and "Pam" like it was supposed to, but I can't change it, you can't change it, and no-one here can. Besides, if it was good enough for Paul, it's good enough for me.

The thing is is that nobody cares.

Goodnight was probably the best due to the fact that the double White Album was sonic, sensory overload. Especially after Revolution #9.  Goodnight was a nice ending for it was simple, pretty and had a nice arrangement that made all the listener's senses calm down and relax. Most approriate for the collage of sounds that preceeded it.

Yeah Sunny, but it would have sat so out of context on RS don't you think? I can't think what I would have closed RS with. I agree though, RFYL is'nt a great closer for a great album.  :)

A day in the life the instrumental crescendo was the best way to finish the biggest album of the sixties

I also vote for 'Goodnight'. I don't understand with a poll like this that all the last songs aren't listed, there's only 12, 13 if you want to include 'Yellow Submarine. Anyways, from the list, 'Tomorrow Never Knows' gets the nod. I always thought that this incredible piece of music was the first one recorded for 'Revolver' and the last song on the album.

You can look at this two ways...the best song that was an album closer, or the song that closed the album the best.

Good point...I chose A Day In The Life.

it was a tough choice between day in the life and the golden slumbers medley. both are great endings to albums. the medley though is particularly awesome because of how the 3 short songs are interwoven, gotta love that

Tomorrow Never Knows is my favourite Beatles track, so I voted for that.

Honourable mention:

Run For Your Life and The End.

I think Good Night was the best way to close an album just leave a feeling that the albums finished, A Day In The Life a close second though

I don't really see the appeal behind Good Night. If the point was to put me to sleep, then, well, they succeeded.
