I voted 1967 as i think it was the peak of their success! :)
There music built up & up till finally they presented Pepper which
in my eyes was their finest album! :) (i know it's debatable :-/)

I think 1967 was their best point because they re-invented themselves from being the moptops from Liverpool and becoming the best band of the 20th Century.  Their music evolved dramatically, although the evolution began earlier.

1965

Though still touring, they were becoming introspective, began experimenting in the studio and were maturing individually.

I voted 1965 because the Beatles were still working, recording, and (importantly, I think) enjoying themselves as a band. They were exploring new terrain musically and mentally, George was developing his own style, and they were still a hell of a lot of fun to sing along and dance to. This was the funnest year of touring for them (according to Larry Kane), because they weren't freaked out like in 1964 and they weren't burned out like in 1966.

I'm always torn between Rubber Soul and Revolver and being my favorite "most representative of the Beatles" album. But in 1965 they did Help, too. Two great albums in one year: '65 wins!

EDITED TO ADD: And of course Hello Goodbye gets in an eloquent one-line explanation of same while I'm composing my essay. *sigh*  ;D

Some regression was evident in 1968:

I notice that, by 1968, the only leather you'd find on a Beatle was draped over his head. Sad.

1965 was a very interesting year because their music began to evolve, the arrangements were more complex, and their own styles in songwriting were developing.... George became interested in Hinduism, and bought that influence into the music... John began to write more introspective songs... example: In my life... and Paul was experimenting with other sounds.... Yesterday....

In the middle of those gradual changes they were still happy as a band....

I went with 1965  " Rubber Soul " made them pretty untouchable.

Succinct is necessary, for me anyway.  Banished from junior high school typing class for the remark "Typing is for girls," I was left hunting and pecking for life.  And so the "two thousand word essay" assignment became a chore.  I handed in a paper and the teacher said "This isn't two thousand words."  I answered: "If it doesn't cover the subject, I'll make it two thousand."  I got an A on the paper, as written, and learned a new word.  The teacher wrote SUCCINCT under the A.

(please excuse this digression)

Although I of course love every year, I voted for 1965. They came out with two great albums and Beatlemania was at its height. They were really writing some great songs, like Help!, Yesterday, If I Needed Someone, etc.

I agree. Hard to pick one year, though: I think their peak was the period between A Hard Day's Night and Sgt. Pepper.
