I had to say "All Those Years Ago". I remember distinctly the first time I heard it, driving down the highway at night, and chills started creeping over my body. "That's John!" I yelled at the radio (probably the radio knew this already). When he got to the third verse I had the volume way up so I could hear every word. Wow. Just really reached me.
Ringo's "Never Without You" affected me nearly the same way, except I had to go looking for it, so I wasn't caught off guard. That might have diluted some of the impact. But it was a lovely tribute as well.
Paul's "Here Today" is one of his rare songs where I prefer the lyrics to the tune. It's strange; I wanted to be more moved by it than I ended up being. But perhaps it's too difficult a subject for Paul to tackle head on. He's not a "wear his heart on his sleeve" kind of guy.
I really enjoy "How Do You Sleep?" because I think it completely succeeds as a piece of nasty musical snark. I think I actually enjoy the video of them making the song more than the song!
And where is "The Ballad of John and Yoko"? Shouldn't that be here, too, or is it not Beatley enough?
