I recently picked this book up because I was looking for a different perspective on the Beatles, rather than just the same old biography that I've read a million times. It's a cultural study of the group: what shaped and influenced them, and how this, in turn, had an impact on their influence on the world.
What I found most interesting was the section on gender. This book explored the Beatles and gender in a way I had never even thought of before, and I consider myself to be pretty feminist.
All in all it was an enjoyable read and I actually felt like I came away having learned something.
