I'd like to express the same feeling by changing some words to cry the death of John W. Lennon:

He was a friend of mine, he was a friend of mine
His killing had no purpose, no reason or rhyme
Oh, he was a friend of mine

He was in New York town, he was in New York town
In Dakota archway a gunner shot him down
Oh, he died in New York town

He never knew my name, he never knew my name
Though I never met him I knew him just the same
Oh, he was a friend of mine

Leader of the Beatles for such a precious time
Oh, he was a friend of mine

That's lovely, Andrés.

That's lovely, Andrés.

Thanks Kelley.

I changed very few words just related to facts, because the spirit of the song express the same feeling.

All these years on and still this pointless violent act leaves me in a state of disbelief

This is a script I wrote for a recent challenge. We had to take an event from history and write a story set as if that event had never happened

Well written, Steve.  I wish it never happened and that another event was the topic of your script

Thank you for the kind words, guys. Once the theme of the challenge was revealed I knew it was gonna be based around John surviving in some way. Then the ending came to me straight away (the 2 events are pretty much the biggest in NYC history, certainly 9/11 is). I sorta cheated a bit by not actually showing John with these 1980's/90's world leaders as I couldn't be bothered lol plus there was a 15 page max restriction.

So I got around it by just showing the middle part of John's 'new' life. A couple of reviewers mentioned this on Simply Scripts but I will reveal it when the writers are revealed for all the scripts - we do it anon and part of the fun is guessing who wrote what but I think its redundant doing that now lol

I was born in 1989 and feel the same way. Other people (non Beatlemaniacs) probably don’t understand, but I still think about John and that terrible incident just about every day. He had the best personality and that lives on. It’s really hard to think about all the music and wisdom we lost, but we have no other choice but to savour what he gave us. And it was legendary. RIP John. 1980 - forever.

This day crept up on me this year. It’s a sad day for sure but it’s also a good day to remember John at his best.

All these years on and the events of that day still seem beyond human comprehension.
