I like YES's Chris Squire. "I've Seen All Good People", Searching For America", "The Preacher,The Teacher". He can play it all!

Usually when I listen to YES I'll leave the CD in for 3 or 4 listens and focus on each instrument as I am amazed at all of their abilities but he's one of my favorite bassists by far! Bil Buford can be mind blowing as well!

I'm pretty roped right now and I dont have a rif actually, but this is the fist sonjg that came to ind when talking about bass plyers. Thisi Mccartney like melodic. Awesome.

One of the reasons I started listeing to King Crimson was that Drummer Bill Brufford left Yes to join them, he is an absolutely awesome drummer, Alan White (great guy and good drummer that he is) isnt in the same league IMO (and I believe Alan knows it)

Bill is one of those erm 'special' talents

Nick Fortuna is playing "lead bass guitar" there, Todd.  Just magnificent!!

The Buckinghams were one of my favorite groups in the late 60s.  This song remains one of my favorites...

The Buckinghams - "Susan" (1967) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=974W-hJ3kRA#ws)

I'll never forget the Susan I dated in 1968.

I have a hard time depicting between riffs and actual playing sometimes. Regardless, I went through about half my ipod before I scrapped the whole idea because I have headache. Heres a few I like anyways.

This guy just flat out tears it up.
Duran Duran - Rio (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XovoAKVOPOM#)

Living In The Past-Jethro Tull (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YymGJKhGgY#)

far too many to post but Mike Mill's playing on the first two R.E.M. albums (Murmur & Reckoning) is exceptional.

Yeah I was going to tell you that! At least they used good session men... I also like the bass riff on "My Eyes Have Seen You": simple but effective.

Harry Nilsson's, Jump Into The Fire had a strong bass riff. Sounds like they were really letting loose that day! Alittle research brought up Herbie Flowers as the bass player and Klaus Voorman playing rythm guitar.

I just have their debut album Pickin' Up The Pieces (1969). I'm not a big fan of Country Rock, but it's still an entertaining record.
