I heard the recent news that Justin Bieber has broken The Beatles 50 year old record for the most songs in the charts. When you look at it though you had to achieve a hell of a lot more sales in 1964 to get a record to chart. I tried to dig out the figures but struggled a bit. I did find this snippet which includes album sales:
In 1964 the Beatles had the never-matched total of 15 American million-selling records (9 singles and 6 LPs), representing US sales of over 25 million in 1964 alone.
I believe a single now needs less than 50k US sales to chart but I'm not 100% sure.

But one things for certain. Nobody will be taking about Beibers music in 50 years! :angel:

Lets not forget, many, many, many, many more people are buying/renting music today compared to the 60’s! ;)
