It was 27 years ago today: Paul McCartney closes out Live Aid in the UK

There were rumors that more than one Beatle, maybe all three, would close out Live Aid on July 13, 1985, 27 years ago today. In the end, it was only one, Paul McCartney, who appeared in London. He performed “Let It Be,” but the performance was marred by continuing sound problems from a faulty microphone during the segment.
