But Buddy was already by that time, right? There's a lot of young rockers died too early in their lives.

"Something Else" is a good record.  Little Richard and Tanya Tucker did it later.

Nice read, thanks pc31. I didn't know that Eddie Cochrane died in England. The guilt must have driven George Martin into music production, and a good thing that is  ;)

I remember reading somewhere that on John and Paul's first meeting, Paul impressed by knowing all the words to Eddie Cochrane's 20 Flight Rock. I can see why now, as there are about a million of them, and it looks like the song had only been released a few months at most before. Ever the overacheiver, Paul!

BTW pc31 ... Is that a photo of Gene Vincent in your sig? If so, can you tell a little bit about it ... Hamburg/Liverpool? How did the scruffy Beatles get to hang out with a star with a Mega hit (Be Bop A Lula)?

Thanks!

gene wasn't considered a mega star any more in america when they met him the first time...eddie cochran was on his way up tho and gene was good friends with eddie,so he was touring with him this was helping his career but when eddie died he was really hit hard by it...he carried eddie from the car even tho his leg pained him...the beatles met gene in germany and later again at the cavern, thats where mike mcgear pauls brother took the pictures...gene played the star club and the beatles went and saw him and hung out...drinking beer and maybe popping pills...gene always took pills for the pain...did you know he died in his parents living room??sad ending for mr vincent...i love his music and tony sheridans too...they should have teamed up....there is a story that they joined him on stage in the cavern for the song what'd i say, which all the merseyside groups knew..they use to have contests to see who could play the longest version...it is said the song was bootlegged but i doubt it.....gene p*ssed capitol records off more than a few times by playing other peoples songs before their 45s came out...he loved music and if he heard a great song he covered it...go to my podcast,i have some gene there...you may have to link it of bobbers podcast tho...i don't have my link below...there is some eddie there too...

Thanks, PC31 for the history. It's amazing the circles these boys traveled in, even before they were really good!

I read that Eddie Cochrane history on one of your other posts as well. I like rockabilly a lot, and it's been really fun to see how it helped define the Beatles. My favorite album right now is the BBC one, LOTS of early influences there, it's just so cool to see how they took 'em in, made 'em their own, and then moved on.
