It's a pretty common term. It's that whimsical, boppy British pop rock that's exclusive to the particular region.

I know the term, I've just never heard it applied to Pink Flyod before!

A lot of their pre-DSOTM material fits the term.

Er...no. It very much does not!

Britpop came out of the indie rock scene of the early 90's, and was heavily influenced by British guitar bands of the 60's, such as: The Beatles, The Kinks, The Who, The Small Faces, amogst others. Influences also included early 70's artists: David Bowie, and T. Rex. Britpop groups didn't really have an identifying sound but were grouped together by the media as a 'scene'.

The most famous exponents of Britpop are: Paul Weller, Blur, Oasis, and Pulp. Other bands and artists associated with Britpop are: Suede, Ocean Colour Scene, The Verve, Ash, and Supergrass.

I was just thinking I should write more or less the same, BlueMeanie. :) One cannot say PF are brit pop band when brit pop emerged as a response to the American grunge music and all the bands wrote only about British topics and were inspired from the British guitar music (70's & 60's). Which couldn't be said for PF whose sound is hard to be defined but is associated with psychedelic and progressive rock music... and they created music long before Britpop was born  ;)
I like brit pop bands though, especially Radiohead.

It seems that I am a very boring person - I just can't think of any weird album I own  :'(

Not everyone's cup of tea, and yes, I think you could say a little on the weird side!

If you're really into Can there are quite a few remasters that have been coming out in the last year or so.
