Festival can sing out for Liverpool

WHAT John Lennon began, the Liverpool Sound City music festival now intends to continue, in the best interests of our entire city region. The ex-Beatle’s decision to set up home in New York arguably helped to establish a vibrant and meaningful relationship between the Big Apple and Liverpool which has been maintained to this day. When the city was devastated by the attack on the Twin Towers in 2001, Liverpool officials ensured that New York was left in no doubt about how deeply Merseysiders were sharing in their pain. Now the Sound City festival is to hold a sister event in New York, which will provide a magnificent shop window for all that Liverpool has to offer, while, hopefully, Stateside entrepreneurs may well have their eyes opened as to the business opportunities so readily available on Merseyside for transatlantic visitors waving fistfuls of dollars. In these trying times, Liverpool must be grateful for every chance of seizing a business advantage. The US, of course, has its own well-documented financial problems, but there are still many enterprises over there bound to be attracted by a city echoing to the sound of The Beatles and many other class musical acts besides.
