Ask Me Why

Next to 'What You're Doing', I think 'Ask Me Why' is another very underrated Beatles song.

"John was the best. I loved John. He was fine singer, a fine musician and he was a fine friend." -Ringo
“He's (Ringo) every bloody bit as warm, unassuming, funny, and kind as he seems. He was quite simply the heart of the Beatles.” – John

I have to agree with you. It's one of those songs that gets better the more you listen to it. At first, it sounds a bit corny ("I love you -- ooh, woo, woo, woo..."), but then you listen to the melody and you realize how lovely it is!

And you've GOT to love John's adorably flu-ridden vocals... I just smile every time I hear him sing "my happiness still makes me cry" and his voice cracks... he sounds so cute and sick from a cold.

I absolutely agree with you. I love the song and I love John`s voice. And Please, Please Me is my favourite record!

I really love this song. Okay, you listen to it and of course there's the underlying comparison with later songs. I think to myself "they improved so much".
But at the same time, it's amazing to think how amazing they were to start with. They've a long way to go, but they're already making amazing, albeit simpler songs.
