Yep, reading it RIGHT NOW!! It's a great book nicely written & put together!
i picked it up from the libery a week or so ago to see what its like. & i wasn't
dissapointed. Its like Mark Lewishon's Chronicle but quite an easier read. :)
Chronicle focused on times on what songs were recorded, but Unreleased
focuses on just the man days on what was recorded, it's good on how many takes
they did of the songs. There's some cool photos in there as well!
I'd say it's a good read for Recording wise info! ;) :)

For people that have read the book...

What are some of most interesting gems still in the vaults?

Thanks for the link, good stuff.

Of those listed I'm most interested in hearing:
Something: the alternate take with the "instrumental coda" sounds good.
Back in the U.S.S.R.: They should release a CD of all those acoustic White Album demos.
If I Fell: John's vocal sounds cool, I bet this is a good version.

I love this book and have used it to track down all of the recordings he talks about, including—of course—the ones in that list. Highly recommended to collectors and completists.

I have this book - I attended one of Richie's lectures in San Francisco, where he played a few tracks and did a bit of a talk - he also signed my book. He's a nice man.

It's a good book but I would recommend 'Way Beyond Compare' and 'That Magic Feeling' by John C Winn (http://www.multiplusbooks.com/) over the Richie Unterberger book.
