That's because you're old ;)

Yeah.  Well, you'll be older too.     ;)

Think back to a few years ago when I posted about fitting my drunk sister and her friend Michelle into my MGB after picking them up from a Bowie concert at Madison Square Garden.  Twenty miles of non-stop "Rebel, Rebel your face is a mess!"  I guess they had a good time.  I avoided the scene and took some serious blues guitar lessons during the early 70s.

I'm happy I came of age in the 60s.  I made the Greenwich Village scene and got to see some fine folk music artists at The Village Gate.  I got to see The Beatles evolve.  And I got to see the birth of Folk Rock, MOWTOWN and psychedelic rock.  What an amazing decade that was!  So what if I didn't dig glam rock and arena rock.  It was no great loss.

Shiyoot!  Now I'm starting to sound like oldbrownshoe.  But you know, there's a lot of truth in what he says and how he feels.  I never referred to 60s music as "serious" music.  Music of the 60s was more "meaningful" than "Rebel, Rebel you've torn your dress."

Badfinger were such a good band. A change in the stars a bit and Pete Ham would be up there today with the best.  Can't find a good video of it but Name of the Game is a favourite.

Yes they were.  It's a pity what happened.

Here's Name Of The Game, Moog...

You were a very cool 8 year old clearly

LOL That was a very big year for me. Although I had been steadily absorbing The Beatles by osmosis, that was the year I found the left behind albums, Introducing The Beatles through Rubber Soul, waiting for me in the back of a closet. I mostly remember listening to them alone after I did my schoolwork but apparently I made everyone who came over listen too. I've had several friends mention that they heard The Beatles for the first time then.

"Lido Shuffle" was definitely part of the soundtrack later. I liked this one better though and still do:

Maybe that was the 80's though?

My memory is starting to get jogged now. America was great and I was crazy about John Denver when I was in 7th grade. I still love him but it's sad to listen to him. I haven't seen Jim Croce mentioned here on the forum but I really liked him too. I didn't discover him until I read this article in the inaugural issue of People magazine: The Music Jim Croce Left Behind His "Life and Times" album was the one I always heard the most but now I enjoy listening to the acoustic "Have You Heard Jim Croce Live?" I think this is definitely his most poignant song.

Here's one with Maury Muehleisen, another great talent who was lost on September 20, 1973:

I'm not a baby boomer, but I love Pink Floyd, The Who, Genesis, King Crimson, Ramones, The Clash, Talking Heads, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Stooges, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, David Bowie, Black Sabbath and Queen.

Cheers for the reference, HG!

That picture of Bowie is a reminder of just what a tool he became and yet, in '66, he was the sharpest guy in London, and making much better music.

I can think of one, that's 'one', person who looked cool after 1970, and that was because he wasn't wearing the laughable clothes of the day.....Dylan as 'Alias' in 'Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid'.

Bread was great. Even in the 80's I got girls fall in love with me when I sang Make It With You.  glassesslip  However, my favourite was this:

In the 90's, I recognized the font the British band Blur used:

It's almost the same as Bread used 20 years earlier.

Yeah. It wasn't too spectacular but it always amazes me how frequently they turn up.

That would do it, yes. LOL But that really gave you an unfair advantage over the poor guys who could only play the record. ;) But all's fair in love and war, so they say.

Released in 1978, one of the most achingly beautiful songs ever written in my opinion...
