St. Elsewhere Season 2

I loved that show! It had an excellent cast and really memorable story lines. I'll never forget Ed Flanders' daring scene! I miss those times, when just about every night had a show that I looked forward to watching. I just wish this was one was available to stream from Netflix.

Currently we watch and record so we don't miss :

The Blacklist - by far our fav
Person of interest - previous fav, fell to second by no fault of its own
Modern Family

For reruns, I will absolutely watch a Seinfeld, Mash, Taxi or Happy Days (pre Scott Bao) if I stumble across them.

I like intelligent and respectable TV shows of redeeming social significance

Yes, I tended to watch only educational programs when I was growing up. I learned all about the space program and the Middle East from I Dream of Jeannie, the sociological implications of blended families from The Brady Bunch and life during the Stone Age from my favorite, The Flintstones. I also learned that any problem can be solved in a half hour, unless it's really bad then it might take a two or three part episode.

I watch very little TV, but I stumbled across The Middle and have gotten addicted. It takes a lot to get me to actually laugh out loud (I'm kind of humor impaired), but something about this show cracks me up, perhaps because I relate to it so well.

Consider this clip about trying to wake up a teenager. I have friends who have used spray bottles of water. I went the airhorn route myself. My teen daughters and I got a kick out of this:

I only watch sport on TV.

Haven't seen any of the current series that are popular, though my wife watches a few on the net.

I have the whole series of The Shield which is the greatest show ever IMO.  And I loved Deadwood as well.

Remember Carnivale that was on a few years back but never had a 3rd season? That show was awesome

I've been considering canceling, too. There's so much trash, and it would certainly help my budget.

I didn't really miss it when we didn't have it. Then our son came back and he couldn't stand life without it so it's been back with us a few years. I can't stand it unless I'm actually sitting down and watching something. Otherwise I find it to be a huge distraction and conversation killer.

There's only a couple of shows that mildly keep my interest now. I imagine I will become a streaming expert this year.

That you will! If I didn't have cable I could get Amazon Prime and the shipping benefits that go with it. But no...!

Not free but cheaper than cable. It's $99 a year plus you get free two day shipping and other benefits of some kind. Now, if you'd like to enroll full time in college it's free for six months then half price the rest of the year. But you'd have to go on a scholarship to realize any real savings.  ;D

I pretty much vote with my feet if a pop song is over 3 minutes long, an album is more than 35 minutes long, or a film is over 100 minutes long (the definitive 'Paths of Glory' clocks in at 86 minutes).
If it can't be said in that time, don't bother.

Ditto TV - if it's divided up into 'seasons', comes in a 8 dvd box set and, frankly, is American, I'm out the door.

Fave TV series? - 'The Prisoner' 1967-68, 17 episodes.

I'm glad I don't feel that way LOL I wouldn't have this 238 minute film as my favorite movie then:

I guess you can't get more American than this, except for Leslie Howard's accent. :)

That's my favorite movie, too, Kelley! I have my fingers crossed hard that our local theater will play it later this year on the 75th anniversary of the its release.

That would be great. That movie has it all; romance, history and an incredible leading man!

You said it! It used to be shown every summer in my hometown in this beautiful old classic theater. It's so great to watch with an audience! Whenever Leslie Howard came on, he was booed, and Clark Gable was always cheered -- or should I say, Ashley was booed and Rhett was cheered.   ;)
