Taxman - moody intro with an addictive bass line.

I was *this* close choosing Sgt. Pepper, but me favourite is still Saw her standing there - agreeing with the Master. Paul made history just counting to four - that's pretty unique.

Sgt Pepper starts the album out quite nice. And the reprise bookends the album nicely.

Good Lawd.

THE ONE chord that will energize better than ANYthing else they did?  Yes, Pepper's is nice, Taxman's a good song (both don't have an appreciable opening).  Really the only one besides AHDN is the afore-mentioned '1...2...3...FAW!"  Yet even that can't compare (to my weatherd, feeble mind) to that G7/11/whatever chord!

Easily I SAW HER STANDING THERE. The intense count-in is really great*.

*Interesting tidbit: If you listen to the outtakes for this song, after counting the song in so often, Paul keeps screwing up and at one point gets so frustrated that by one take he yells the "1 - 2 - 3- FAWWW!!!!" that was used on the released version and has since become legendary.

A HARD DAY'S NIGHT is a great opening too.

Sgt. Pepper sets up the album's idea and tone.

I don't think gets much better than Paul's "One, two, three, FARRRRR!". The opening chord of A Hard Day's Night comes a close second though. :)

Hi Guys !! This is a no brainer for me ,I go with, "Drive my car",opening bat for Rubber soul" my all time favourite album. The perfect riff sets the mood and pace of the perfect collection of tracks ,ever ! Must add that "Back in the Ussr" just smashes it and comes a very close second in my estimation, still being a highlight of Paul,s solo concerts to date.
