Songs you can't sing in public?
« on: March 02, 2009, 12:26:14 AM »

Are there any songs you can't really sing in public without a good explanation? I don't think anyone can sing Happiness is a Warm Gun, I'm a Loser, Yer Blues, or Why Don't We Do It In The Road in public without a good explanation. Some Beatles songs are meant for guys to sing, like Michelle, or Julia, or songs like that without changing words or something.

Well, if you sing "Happiness" in public, you'll look like a gun nut.  "Loser" and "Blues" will make you sound terribly depressed, and "Road" will just make you sound like a pervert on the loose.   ;D ;D

I'm not sure I could sing "Lovely Rita" in public, with all that panting at the end I'd be bound to look a little strange. :P

Well, you couldn't sing I am the Walrus without looking like a complete lunatic, Magical Mystery Tour and Baby You're a Rich Man are bound to raise some eyebrows.

You're saying not even drunken karaoke can get you to sing in public?  ;)

I don't think I'd be able to pull off singing Come Together in public. There's something about that song that tells me, "Youll forget the words."

Doesn't matter the song, I sing it loud and proud or blast it from my car :)  I do air guitar and all to go with it!

^All fire? Stop, drop, and roll! Fire isn't safe, and you should never play with it!

You might not be able to sing With A Little Help From My Friends. You might have to tweak the lyrics, though.

Anyone wanna try "sing" Revolution #9 in public? ;D

It would probably look werid singing Helter Skelter without explanation (especially with the "I've got blisters on my fingers!!" at the end ;D )

But, to be honest, I don't sing in public at all. I do sometimes have the urge to ask the bus driver for a "da-aa-ay tripper" ticket, but I never do ;D

There aren't any songs that I could sing in public without a good explanation.

One song that oughtn't to be sung in public, even with an explanation, is not a beatles song, but Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights. But for some reason it's the favourite song of drunk men coming out of pubs at closing time. It's the very high notes that attract them - "It's me I'm Catheeeee....."

I don`t and won`t sing in public alone. Only with a company. I would gladly join HeyJude if I had a chance!  8)

I'll attempt! I'll most likely fail, but I'll attempt!

You know, I did karaoke once, and I sang Help! with my good friend. It was fun.

I'd be glad to have you Jane!

It's great at karaoke bars whenever somebody sings a (well known) Beatles song everyone burst out singing!

I've gotten some strange looks anytime I've sang "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey," like I was some sort of a pervert.  Then I have to explain to them that in the song, John is referring to Yoko Ono as his monkey, not something else. :o

Oh yeah, about Help!... 2 years or so ago, KE and me went to a Beatles lyrics website which also has Midi sound clips for all the songs, and we tape-recorded ourselves singing Help! with the Midi, with KE singing lead and me doing "harmony" :B ;D That "recording" also includes a phone conversation with Mum, who rang when we were half-way through the song ;D

I don't sing in public, too. I know that if I sing in public, I'll look extremely weird (grin)
