128 does not sound all that good to me.

It surely does not sound worse than vinyls played in most equipments during the 60's. I can be happy with that.

And better than my transistor radio in the 60s but if I have the choice for a better file, I'm going for it.

Of course. I'm just trying to point out that the quality of mp3 128 is ok to my ears, admitting that it can be better.

Apple lossless is good. It's uncompressed, the same as FLAC. Same quality as the source CD.  I upload all my CDs to my hard drive using this format.

My iPod also has lossless files only.  It takes up a little more space but I can still fit a lot of music on it.

Ya, I'm quite impressed with my CD transfers to iPod, hence the reason for selling off all my CD's.  Now I just borrow them for download...  ;D
