I haven't watched it yet because I have been completely swamped with work. I don't want to be anxious and have my stomach in knots while I'm watching, so I am going to hold off for a few more days, until after my past-due work has been turned in.

Oh gosh; I hope things settle down for you soon Kathy. I think you should definitely try for a seat on that Vegas trip!

Wouldn't that be the subjunctive mood, though? Sigh, maybe I am slipping.

Thanks, Kelley! Everything just keeps snowballing....Ugh!

I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of chaperoning the girls' band trip. Pro: I get to see the Cirque Beatles "LOVE" show, plus Los Angeles. Con: several days on a bus crammed with teenagers (and having to supervise said teenagers)  <cringe>   ;D

No, you're not slipping. Grammar Girl agrees with you:

Grammar Girl -- I like that, Kelley! Maybe I should have used that for my professional email address.  ;)

Kathy, what do you do for a living? I hope you catch up!

Thanks! I'm a freelance copyeditor. I can usually (sort of) manage OK, but once I fall behind on one deadline I get a late start
on the next project, and so on and so forth -- it can be hard to catch up!

We never feel subjunctive in New Jersey.  And in North Carolina we drop the "g" in a word ending with "ing."

Grammar Girl's gotta get around a bit more, I reckon.     ;D

I still haven't. I hope to see it this coming week -- I'm nearly caught up.

I noticed The Washington Post gave it a rather lukewarm review. I'll get the URL and post it.

Here's the URL...I know you said you're interested in what people here think of it, Kelley, and I am, too, but just in case you or anyone else is interested:

Thanks for posting that Kathy. As you might imagine from my glowing review I don't agree with most of it! In fact, it even contains a very glaring error:"The soundtrack consists primarily of Beatles covers.". That makes it sound as though it was all Beatles songs, performed by other people. The songs were actually ones that The Beatles covered, like Arthur Alexander's Anna, along with some others with special significance. That's one of things I really liked about it and forgot to mention. He even managed to secure the rights to four Beatles songs so he did all right. Here's an article with some good info about the soundtrack and other aspects of the film:
